Il Vecchio Forno In Pisa

This place is a staple of Pisa! Makes it's own traditional Pisan cakes and biscuits and has done for decades. If you don't like medieval cakes don't bother 😁I come here every time I visit. Living in England I miss ricciarelli biscotti. I don't understand people complaining about the owner not speaking English or not giving free samples. This is Italy and we don't do either of those things. The shop is not in a tourist area so people should not be arrogant and expect another language to be spoken. As for the price, these are homemade and don't actually cost much more than what you would pay in a local supermarket. This place just always takes me back to my childhood. Love it.

Very typical place with a welcoming owner and a truly rare kindness... incredible desserts and flatbreads. Truly recommended!

Best almond cookie ever. i only tried 2 of them. it was fantastic. The man was very polite.

But where can you find an oven that evokes recipes from the late Middle Ages in Pisa, found by the owner himself in the archbishop's private library??!! I'm telling you: you can't find them anywhere else! Authentic biscuits and sweets from the Pisan tradition. And anyone who complains about the price in reviews means that they have understood nothing of the value of this place and what it produces with love, dedication and passion for the history of their territory.
