Il Tulipano In Viterbo

In Viterbo for work, I arrive at the hotel at dinner time and in the downpour. I don't want to go to the center and so I rely on Mr. Google. I find this restaurant a few minutes walk away and so I decide to try it. The place is very informal, halfway between a restaurant and a trattoria, but welcoming and with friendly staff. The manager of the restaurant (I think his name is Maurizio) is a gentleman who is very attentive to customers' needs. The cuisine is typical and homemade. I believe the menu changes according to the day and is displayed verbally by the staff. I ate the spaghetti carbonara which, even if it wasn't how I prefer it (the egg was a little overcooked), was good. For the second course, I could choose between tripe, stew, boiled meat sautéed in a pan with carrots and onion, cutlet and more. I let the manager advise me and so I chose the boiled meat. More than spot on advice. The chunks of meat melted in your mouth and the accompanying sauce was so good that it deserved the slipper. I wasn't able to have dessert because the portions of the dishes were really generous. The bill? Carbonara + boiled meat + 66 cl Peroni + cover charge = €23 for an attractive quality-price ratio. It is worth a stop even if it is not in the center of Viterbo. I will definitely return next time.

Informal environment, excellent cuisine, quality raw materials. The owner was present and attentive to customer needs, it was a pleasure to meet him. Truly recommended.

It is a spartan but welcoming place thanks also to the very friendly owner and waiters. They prepare simple dishes such as carbonara, matriciana, etc. but you can also find dishes based on wild boar. The dishes are good and the prices extremely low, therefore also excellent for quick lunches and dinners. I will happily return. Always excellent, now I often come here for quick lunches too

Locale informale, ma accogliente e con personale gentile. Cucina tipica e casareccia. Da provare le fettuccine ai funghi porcini e le pietanze con il cinghiale (es. spezzatino). Merita una sosta anche se non è nel centro di Viterbo

Locale semplice, tenuto in maniera familiare dal gestore ed i suoi collaboratori. Cucina ottima ed economica per chi ha voglia di piatti della tradizione viterbese-laziale. Sempre gentilissimi. Unica giovane la cameriera che riesce con seppur con aiuto talvolta dalla cucina ad accontentare i commensali. Bravi e vista l' età dei gestori speriamo che ci possano allietare per tanto tempo ancora.

Servizio buono, il gestore del locale è un signore molto accorto alle esigenze dei clienti. Abbiamo mangiato un eccellente zuppa di ceci e castagne calda che in una giornata piovosa ci stava benissimo. Lo consiglio per le pietanze. Tutto cucinato come un tempo
