Trattoria Il Sorpasso in Ferrara. Highly recommended! The food is truly excellent, tasty and carefully prepared. The staff is very welcoming and makes you feel right at home. While passing through Ferrara, we stopped at this roadside restaurant. It has a rustic yet elegant look. The service was very friendly and made excellent recommendations. We had delicious pumpkin tortelloni with ragù. Definitely recommended.

Nice little, welcoming restaurant in the medieval part of the historic centre of town. Pleasant ambiance, mainly indoor dining, just a couple of tables in a small dehors, limited menu focused on few items, ensuring quality and freshness, with a decent wine list. Service was slow paced and friendly, creating a very relaxing atmosphere. We had a mix of appetisers, first and second courses, all fish based, and desserts, all of which we shared - all delicious. With a bottle of wine, a very good Catarratto from Marsala (I thought that grape was specific only of the Etna area, you never stop learning ...), the bill for the three of us was €125. Being in my neighbourhood, Il Sorpasso stays in my list of favourite local places.

I enjoyed the pumpkin cappellacci with butter and sage, a typical Ferrara dish: delicious! There are also other traditional Ferrara dishes, but the heart of the restaurant remains Sicilian, so it's best to adjust your expectations if you're looking for a truly local experience. A friend recommended this nice cosy restaurant to us. We were happy to heed his suggestion. Delicious home-cooked food. Great and friendly service from the owner down to the staff. We were attended to by Elena, who did a great job patentl patiently introducing us to the Sicilian specialities at the restaurant. We had never tried such dishes and enjoyed them very much. A must, in my humble opinion, for anyone wishing to try something different from the usual Italian fare. (Again, this is my personal opinion.)
