Amazing place with extremely kind and caring staff, fair prices for the highest quality products. We were able to experience the place by tasting traditional and elaborate products made with all the love of the kind people who run the place.

If you like good food, wine and friendly service, go here! We went here with a reservation and that was a good decision; place was full. We had a table at 20:30 and sat on the balcony. Because it was already dark, we had no view over the olive trees. We decided to skip the antipasti and primi’s and went straight for the tagliata. I can recommend the one in “olio santo”. I was tempted to order one of the local wines in a bottle but in stead ordered the red housewine, which was a perfect fit for the meat. With several contorni’s (fagioli!!) it was a complete meal. My tablepartners topped it off with torta di nonna and I with cantucci e vin santo. The hostess was super friendly, spoke perfectly English and it is amazing that they ran the restaurant with only one cook.

The best restaurant in all of Italy! I first visited there 10 years ago and returned to the region just for this restaurant. The staff is incredibly friendly, the ambiance is typically Italian, and the food is excellent. The porcini mushrooms and the homemade desserts are especially worth a visit. Highly recommended in every respect!

We had a really delicious meal here a few weeks ago! Friendly service, nice spot. I had the crepes Fiorentina as a starter. Truly delicious! I had the most delicious grilled vegetables I've ever had in Italy. Good value for money.

Trattoria La Gargotta

09/07/2025: It's been a while since we've been back to Gargotta, and I think it's changed management. In any case, we ate very well. Excellent steak, excellent tartare, even fried flowers, and amazing desserts. The appetizer platter was perhaps a bit ordinary, and they could use a makeover. Excellent selection of wines and Prosecco. The terrace is perfect for summer evenings, with the background music of frogs that reminds us of the countryside. Discreet and informal service.
08/07/2025: Trattoria La Gargotta is a superb restaurant. I went there for dinner with four friends. We ate everything, a classic Tuscan/Florentine menu: classic Tuscan appetizer, first course (tagliolini with truffle), second course (grilled rosticciana), with side dishes (sautéed spinach and baked potatoes), and coffee. Everything was VERY GOOD. From start to finish. The service was a bit awkward; they confused the bottle we ordered with a more expensive one. The owner, having already opened it for us, apologized and offered it to us at the same price as the one we ordered. Truly very kind. (Not everyone would do that these days.) The restaurant is located in the Florentine hills, just outside the city, with a splendid terrace overlooking the city, and a very beautiful and characteristic interior. I highly recommend coming for dinner.
