We got the tip from a French-Calabrese friend, Roman by adoption, who told us it was her refuge as a penniless young student, where not only was it cheap but, more importantly, they ate quail fit for a king... after thirty years, we can confirm that all this is still true! A special evening, thanks also to the friendly and wise host.

I'll start with what I liked: the food, everything we were served was good.
What I didn't like: the bill, which was higher than expected compared to the prices listed on the menu, and even without a standard receipt listing the items. So, after
a chat with the manager who asks you where you're from, etc., you always feel like you've paid the price they charge for passing tourists, like an additional tourist tax...

True Roman tradition is respected here; it's like stepping back in time. I really enjoyed the tripe with pecorino cheese and mint. It fits perfectly into the tradition started by Uncle Tiberio, which his family has continued. For lovers of Rome's bygone days, this is a must-try, one you'll be hard-pressed to find elsewhere in a world where everything is destined to change.

Spent my first night in Rome here after a year and the food was absolutely brilliant. The ambience was gorgeous - homey and authentic, the food and drinks definitely reflected that.
Wine came straight from the barrel, Fagioli con le cotiche (beans with pork rind) is officially my new favourite antipasti, and they make it so well with just the perfect amount of roasted taste. We had an Amatriciana and Cacio e pepe and I can safely say that my year-long cravings have been fully satisfied.
Their espresso came with the yummiest biscuits as well, fantastic service all round. Great value for money, not sure why there's complaints as their portions were more than generous.
We'll save space for dessert next time. They deserve a much higher rating, and I'll be recommending Il Quagliaro to my friends and family. Grazie mille :))

Authentic Rome. The atmosphere is familiar and welcoming, just like the owner. Excellent food. We really enjoyed our stay.

The perfect place for a dinner with friends: excellent food (I recommend the quail, but also the tripe and the pasta dishes, the cacio e pepe being top notch!), fast service, and friendly staff. The owner met all our needs, always with a smile and a friendly attitude! Highly recommended!

We had a relaxing dinner and enjoyed some authentic and delicious Roman dishes. Homemade cornbreaded supplì, beans with pancetta, two delicious carbonaras (one of which was a very popular gluten-free option), quail with a side of mushrooms, and finally a delicious Marsala. The atmosphere is rustic, just like in times gone by. The owner is courteous and friendly. Recommended for a true dinner in a traditional Roman osteria. We'll be back! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

It's been around since 1958 at the "Quarticciolo che resiste"
Roman cuisine. Baked quail, tripe, rigatoni, and vaccinara. Honest and satisfying. Out of fashion, and that's a virtue.

I can only give this old-school trattoria 5 stars; it's my third time here. What can I say? Where else can you find quail like this? And the appetizers and first courses are really good. Fair prices, family-run. I'll be back.
