16/04/2025: Excellent food, attentive and welcoming staff…guys, between us…we eat and drink like a god!!!!
07/04/2025: Typical tavern near the cathedral, I passed by in the morning and stopped in front to observe the place, encouraged by the scent, but I walked away for fear that it was some kind of tourist trap. In the evening of the same day I went there for dinner, on the advice of a boy originally from Siena, and I was satisfied with everything.
The place is very nice, full of old photographs, very rustic but kept quite well. The owners and waiters are very kind and the dishes really tasty.
As a faithful lover of Tuscan cuisine, I took:
- as an appetizer the simple baked pecorino with radicchio, piping hot, perfect on silly bread;
- as a first course my beloved ribollita, an enveloping warm cuddle on a very cold day, I would have brought more fresh onions on the side (or spring onion) but it was still really good;
- as for the second course, the Sienese snails with sauce, I had never tried them but I knew they were typical and difficult to find: I think I would have eaten 3 plates of them. The sauce is really rich, based on sautéed pork and anchovies, the flavor is enveloping and strong, the snails seasoned in this way can easily become a pure "taste vice", so much so that any greasy slipper and hand are obligatory and justified. Try them and you will definitely be satisfied.
The bill was a little high but it was truly worth every penny. Congratulations to the managers, who accepted my requests for half portions and really always approached me with courtesy, giving me their time to explain the recipes to me.
