Il Grande Airone In Castellania

A very quiet and quaint place. We had lunch with friends in a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere. Excellent food (cheese and salami platter, a selection of starters, main course, and dessert) and local ingredients. The lady who welcomed and served us was super helpful and kind. It's a great place to stop after a tasting or a walk through the hills with a magnificent view.

The lady welcomed us with a rare sweetness, the restaurant is a place where you feel at home. I can only say positive things about the food. Long live the great Airone, Long live Coppi!

Small inn in the heart of Castellania Coppi. I ate in the outdoor garden on a beautiful sunny day. The furnishings of the internal rooms very much reflect the rural character of the place. Excellent and kind service, the food and drinks are very good (the Piedmontese appetizer was excellent). Price “for cyclists” €15, what more could you ask for? Great experience!

Arrived around lunch by bike to visit Casa Coppi, I tasted an amazing mixed platter with cheeses, Russian salad and homemade focaccia, combined with a pleasant glass of wine. I added a fabulous tiramisu, water and coffee... incredible price and great kindness from the girls who served. Pleasant discovery.

Dopo la visita alla casa natale di Fausto Coppi mi sono fermato qui a pranzo anche perché ci sono giusto due passi. Locale ampio con tavoli anche all'esterno, tutto molto semplice ma ordinato. Ho preso un antipasto piemontese che è gustoso e per primo degli agnolotti con ragù di brasato, anche loro buoni. Ho dato un voto medio perché tutto è nella media compreso il servizio.

I went with my son. Cool evening and the lady of exquisite kindness made us find the fireplace lit and an entree of cheeses and cured meats to lick your lips. Agnolotti, suckling pig and even homemade pasta with pesto. All ingredients from the area or brought in but always artisanal right down to the dessert. The coffee also had a somewhat magical aroma. Everything made us feel at home. I highly recommend it even to those who are not cycling enthusiasts because it is not very far from Tortona, Novi and Alessandria and the price will surprise you.

Un tuffo nelle eccellenze del territorio e nella gentilezza e cortesia dei proprietari. Accolti da uno splendido camino acceso che ha reso ancora più romantica e accogliente l'atmosfera. La cucina di Milena curatissima. I formaggi ed il salame migliori che abbia mangiato... Il vino ... Tutti prodotti locali di loro produzione. Mio marito ha mangiato la bagna cauda che ha definito strepitosa!! Accompagnata da abbondanti verdure cotte e crude. Io un assaggio (abbondante) di due secondi con contorno. Ottimo anche il dolce. Castellania é il paese natale di Coppi, vale la pena fare un giro nei dintorni. Paesaggio molti bello.

We spent a wonderful evening at this place. The environment is warm and welcoming just like its owners. The lit fireplace made the room even more familiar. Excellent menu, well presented with local products. The wines were no exception either. All accompanied by the memories of Fausto Coppi.
