Il Girasole In Roma

I'm well enough in the business to know where NOT to go to avoid tourist traps, but since I'm not from Rome, I don't really know where the real gems are. A few years ago, a colleague told me: "Go to Girasole in Garbatella, trust me." So I dove in a bit blindly. And thank goodness: it was a revelation. For about fifteen euros, they served me a full menu: appetizer, first course, second course, side dish, wine, and coffee. And I'm not talking about small portions: the carbonara dish was the size of a weapon of mass destruction, the thinly sliced ​​potatoes tasted like crispy chips, and the meat, I don't remember exactly, was good and home-made. In the end, I left feeling shaky, I don't know if it was because of the included wine or the food. What I do know is that Il Girasole gave me the best value I can remember. Genuine staff, a warm welcome: more than a restaurant, it felt like dining at home. Since that day, every time I pass through Rome, Girasole is a fixed stop.

Everything was good, the service excellent, but the only downside is the somewhat cramped bathrooms. There might be problems for a disabled person.

Went to nearby catacombs and came across this beautiful traditional trattoria. Proper Roman menu, good portions, and everything was delicious.

Estábamos buscando un buen restaurante cerca de nuestro hotel en Roma y nos encontramos con este. Precioso lugar acogedor, el hombre tocando un piano, la comida excelente y el personal muy servicial y amable. La comida era absolutamente preciosa y sin duda volveríamos de nuevo!

Ristorante classico romano all’interno anche lo stile è rimasto anni 90 con i muri in legno. La pasta è abbondante e buona porzioni veramente grandi, quasi infinite personale e gentile e alla mano la classica osteria romana.
