In Polignano a Mare, I discovered a truly special place: Terra Marique.
For more than 25 years, Paolo and Vito have stood for authentic Italian grilling and pizza-making craftsmanship — and you can taste it in every single bite.
At first, I actually walked past it a few times because, from the outside, the entrance looks incredibly small and unassuming.
But exactly this little passageway to the back leads into beautiful, spacious, traditional dining rooms — the kind you could hardly imagine any more charming in Italy.
The lovingly designed outdoor area is also a real highlight: in the garden, you can sit peacefully and comfortably, almost as if you were in a small pizza and grill paradise.
The pizzas are simply outstanding.
The dough is light, easy to digest, and full of wonderful flavor.
They also serve fantastic puccia, those typical Apulian bread rolls that feel like little Italian burgers — only much lighter, fluffier, and incredibly pleasant to eat.
What Paolo and Vito do at the grill is truly impressive.
The meat comes from the best butcher shops in the area and is prepared with great experience, calmness, and skill.
You can tell immediately:
there is a true master at the grill here, someone who really understands his craft.
And just as Italian life should be: here, the family works together with friends. This is pure Italian hospitality.
For me, Terra Marique is a real hidden gem in Polignano a Mare — authentic, warm, traditional, and absolutely convincing in taste.
