A small bakery located in the central Sassi district of Matera. A wide selection of baked goods, both fresh and pre-packaged, such as taralli, ore chiette, and frise. We tried their pizza with turnip tops and crusco peppers, which was delicious! I understand the constant flow of tourists and the most bizarre requests, but a smile every now and then is always welcome.

Intrigued by the episode "The Oven of Wonders," we decided to try the "wonders" of Forno nei Sassi. I must say, it absolutely did not disappoint. The products were of the highest quality and the staff were extremely kind and courteous. Truly a must-see for anyone visiting Matera and the Sassi.

A small, quaint bakery in the Sassi district, offering a wide variety of traditional sweet and savory products, in addition to bread, of course. The woman who served me was very kind and helpful, explaining the various specialties and even letting me try the strazzate, which I hadn't tried yet. The classic soft ones are fabulous, in fact, I bought a bag to take home. The focaccia is excellent, served warm, as is the panzerotto. There are a few tables outside for dining.

04/03/2026: I'll start by saying that it was Saturday night and it was quite crowded. We did eat well, but unfortunately we were surprised by the very low level of response from one waiter. After constant calls and waiting, we were told "I'm not the only one here." This ruined everything. I'm sorry, but fortunately another waitress partially resolved the issue. I understand Saturday night. I understand the lack of staff, but certain responses shouldn't be given.
08/12/2025: Excellent food and friendly, helpful service. The seafood menu is truly excellent. The seafood linguine is a real delight!!!!
