A fun place with family, filled with sincerity and a variety of wines and food. It was good

I was on the fence when deciding to make reservations here but decided that I wanted to take the wife and kids (12 & 16) out to a fine dining experience while in Rome. First, I was never told that you need to ring the bell to get in the door. We waited (with another cover) for almost 10 minutes before they opened the door to see if anyone was waiting. The restaurant is small and has a beige feel/tone to it. Tables are lit from above and highlight a floating grapevine stalk that holds potato chips/crisp snack. This was a clever and tasty touch. My wife doesn't drink so I could only order by the glass. There were some interesting selections. The servering team was quite reserved and sterile. I know this is a high end place but after all the lively hospitality that we had been experiencing across Italy, this interaction was disappointing. Nothing was bad, it just had zero personality or warmth. Rather than being warm and personable (showcasing the wonderful Italian hospitality we discovered everywhere), it was professional, clerical and formal. This was my biggest issue with Il Covivio. I will add that the somm made my kids some cocktail drinks. He did this table side and put in a great mixing show for them. They loved it and it was the most (only) personable moment of the night. There was an English fellow who did add in a bit of personality for us. No one was rude nor did anyone do anything wrong. It was just soul that was missing. The food was good. Unfortunately, nothing stood out to me as spectacular as I expected for the 500€ bill. There were some starting and ending amuse bouche that just did not work and it felt like the chef was trying to stretch the limits too far Platings were beautiful and artistic. Unfortunately, the meal was just not up to par with the high price and that, along with the blandness of the service will keep me from returning.

It is a perfect restaurant. The only reason I don’t put 5 stars is because it is it took us 3 hours to eat a 7 course menu. We eat all the time in this type of restaurant and this is twice too slow.

I recommend the 9-course tasting menu!

The food was worthy of a star, and the service that did not miss a beat. The courses made to our tables with no perceptible delay. The whimsical presentation also made for a vibrant conversation starter between the party and the strangers next to your table.

I would like to thank you twice for this dinner, and I want to say them publicly because I didn't have the opportunity to say them to those directly involved. The first person I have to thank is the maitre d', Eric, for the delicate and unpretentious service. Nothing combed and set. Finally some true sincerity and purity of soul. The second thank you would like to give to the Chef who I met before the course that thrilled me. I really don't know how to explain it. Thank you, because this evening that quail was my Madeleine by Proust. I fell for a moment in my hometown, in the house of my beloved grandmother who is no longer here. I don't know how he came to develop that dish, and I would really like to know, because I am convinced that there is some memory involved. Like for me the memory of my Sunday. So, thank you. For me it wasn't just a simple dinner, it was much more. The only micro criticism I feel like making is the choice of wines. Although certainly extremely expert and accurate, in my humble opinion the wines dominated the delicacy of the entire meal.

Great atmosphere, great wine pairings, very fresh ingredients and great variety where you can really see the Chef’s creativity. One nitpick, I hope there’s more protein dishes

Great place for a one of a kind dinner!

ナヴォナ広場北の裏路地にあり「本当にここに店があるのか？」と一瞬不安に思ったが、扉を開けると異空間でスタッフがキビキビ動き活気のあるレストランだった。 メニューの中から自分の好きな食材を選べたので魚介類好きの私は牡蠣、エビ、イカを選んだ。苦手食材も前もって知らせてあったので配慮があったのはよかった。少量ながら盛り付けも綺麗だし味も好みで高得点。良い店はパンも旨いのよね。 22時近くになって店を出たが、64番バス停までの道中も人が溢れ警官もいて治安上の不安はなかった。公共交通機関でアクセスしやすいのは有難い。

It's been many years since we dined at Il Convivio Troiani, and we were happy to return. The space is still pretty, the food still very elegant. Terrific wine pairings as well. The stuffed zucchini flowers with red pepper ice and pasta amatriciana are particularly divine.
