One of the best pastry shops in the area. A bright, charming place with large windows and meticulous attention to detail. Very kind and friendly staff. Good coffee, delicious herbal teas, and the pastries are a delight. The only shame is the terrible service: after waiting a long time at the pastry counter for someone to serve you, waiting at the cash register to pay, waiting for your tray to be prepared, you end up having to carry it to your table yourself... unprofessional. The value for money is slightly above average.

Do you know how it works now?! The famous Leonica pastry shop "Il Chiosco"* has decided to take a leap into the future! Forget waiters and table service: today the customer is the protagonist...but above all, their own waiter! The new philosophy is simple: first you pay (so you don't have second thoughts), then you order, wait for your tray, and finally you find a table—assuming someone, unaware of the new "hi-tech welcome system," hasn't snatched your seat in the meantime! In short, "Il Chiosco" has chosen to say goodbye to pampering and embrace the "do-it-yourself" school of thought, in perfect Autogrill style. Seeing is believing... and maybe bring a place card from home, just in case! 🍰☕

Unfortunately they have installed a very inconvenient automatic checkout (it is probably more convenient for them) because you have to skip the queue to choose what you want, then you get in line to pay and then you wait for the tray to sit down... it feels like being at Starbucks... ah if before I spent 3.40 euros now it's 3.50

Surprise, October 25, 2025.... the kiosk has become like a service station (with all due respect to service stations).... This morning, like every Saturday for at least five years, I came for breakfast and found myself having to pay at the register and collect a cappuccino and croissant from the counter to take it to my table... self-service!!!!!! Absurd.... the price has remained the same... what can I say... you've lost a customer...

I've been a loyal customer of this pastry shop for many years and have always appreciated the quality and elegance of the establishment, even accepting the various price increases over time. However, the new self-service system, with payment at the self-service checkout and trays to be collected at the counter, completely eliminates the welcoming atmosphere and table service that set it apart from other pastry shops. I understand the need to optimize, but for a high-end pastry shop, this change significantly detracts from the customer experience. I truly hope they can reconsider this decision.

This morning, I went for breakfast as usual, but unfortunately I found myself having to pay first at a machine like at the supermarket. I'm sorry, but I find this horrible for a bakery with the name El Chiosco! Terrible choice...

I waited 15 minutes (maybe longer, even though I stopped a waiter and he replied, "I'll call my colleague who has the terminal now") to place my order. Customers who arrived after us ordered first and consequently also finished all the remaining croissants (which would be back shortly anyway). The place wasn't even full, so that's not the cause. Nice place, good pastries (I finally managed to get one), but the service needs improvement. I'll definitely give it a second chance.

€3.50 for a macchiato at the bar. Cheap for St. Mark's Square.

The croissants, cakes and sandwiches are always exceptional, everything, including the coffee... anyone who doesn't appreciate it doesn't know what the authenticity of Francesco's products means!!! ! !
