03/01/2026: For our first dinner of the day in the area, last Sunday we dined at Ciccio alla Capannaccia, a charming country trattoria located near Acquapendente and winner of an episode of Alessandro Borghese's "4 Ristoranti" in 2016. It offers a wide-ranging menu of local cuisine (including several off-menu dishes) using top-quality ingredients. The restaurant is welcoming and the service is very friendly, with the owner, Ciccio, being truly charming. After choosing our wine, an excellent Sangovese Thybris 2023 from Castello di Corbara, we began with pici carbonara with black truffle and pici "alla Ciccio" (mushrooms, sausage, wild fennel, and pecorino cheese), both delicious. We then shared a tender Mangalica pork fillet with baked potatoes. Finally, desserts included a mascarpone cream with almond brittle and a Nutella panna cotta. A water, two coffees, and two liqueurs were kindly offered, bringing the final bill to €96 for two, which is extremely reasonable. Highly recommended, and we can't wait to return!
02/01/2026: Ristorante da Ciccio in La Capannaccia is a place you absolutely must try. The welcome is incredible: it feels like family here. The menu is meticulously explained, both in detail and in its preparation. All the dishes are enticing, but in the end, unfortunately, you have to make a choice. The appetizer is delicious, the fried dishes and the trio of artichokes are amazing. The pizza, leavened for 48 hours, is a true delight for the palate. The first courses are excellent, but the meat dishes, prepared with culinary expertise, are especially worth trying. Here, you should relax and let yourself be guided in choosing quality products masterfully prepared.
You don't come to Da Ciccio for the location or just to eat, but to be pampered and enjoy a pleasant and unforgettable experience. It's been 10 years since he won on Alessandro Borghese's show, but Ciccio's cuisine has steadily improved over the years and today it is considered a true Italian excellence to be enjoyed and preserved. Bravo, Ciccio, you're a genius!
