Wonderful experience. It felt like a home cooked meal! The owner was so friendly and warm. One of the best restaurant experiences we have had in Italy. Highlights for me: The polenta with mushrooms and the tiramisu HIGHLY recommend

We arrive in Florence by train it was my niece and I 1 st time to Florence.We checked into our hotel La Maison Du Sage asked for food recommendations. Checked into our room looked up the menu of the 3 different restaurants and decided on Ristorante ll Barroccio .We were just a couple of steps away from the place . We walked in ,and we felt at home.. Giovanni (I hope I spelled right) treated us like he knew us. We were hungry and we wanted wine.We order un litro di vino della casa ( 1 liter of house red wine). Which is bigger than a bottle of wine . It was delicious and perfect. Yes we drank the whole litro. For dinner I had ravioloni al radicchio e pancetta croccante (ravioli with crispy bacon and aka Italian chicory).My meal was cooked to perfection the pasta was so flavorful.The temperature of the food was fantastic.Cannot say enough of the taste . My niece ordered ravioli all’ aragosta e code di gamberi ( lobster ravioli and shrimp tails).We also had to try the Fiorentina Steak it’s a famous Tuscan steak so please try it. It too was perfect.We also split 1 order spinaci saltati (sautéed spinach). For desert we split 1 panna cotta ai mirtilli - I will try to make at home.It was such an experience. Giovanni spoke English ,Spanish, and of course Italian. My niece mainly spoke to him in English and when he told the story of him growing up working with his family on a farm ,and saying cooking good, healthy ,what is in season food is in his blood.He told the story in English with passion and pride. I hope everyone who goes there has as good experience as my niece and I.Yes we went back the next day. Didn’t eat or drink as much as we did the 1st night.

Incredible experience at this family-run business serving delicious food. Giovanni, the chef and owner, is a really hard working man who shares his passion through food. I totally recommend this hidden gem if you're looking for a more authentic meal. Can't wait to be back

I absolutely love this place. My aunt and I had been to this place both nights we were in Florence. I loved that each time, it was just the three of us there: my aunt, Giovanni the cook, and myself. Giovanni is such a beautiful human being. He made us laugh, he educated us on the area and the culture, and he made us feel so welcome. I love that his place is a hidden gem, but I also don't understand how there weren't more people there. I can't wait to come back again and bring more people to his place. Thank you!

We found this place by chance and it was lucky, Mr. Giovanni was very helpful and friendly. Very good food, we were very happy and if we return to Florence we will definitely return!

It was really, really delicious as ever. We were so full that we could only eat 3 dishes, but we are looking forward to the other menu items as well. It was a shame that it was a little quiet because there was no song in the family book!!

The food is so delicious. It's my 4th day in Florence and it's much more delicious than other expensive restaurants and the price is reasonable. The risotto was delicious, and the grilled white fish I ordered was served in tomato sauce, had a crispy skin, and was a little spicier than Korean Shin Ramyun, but you can just order it and scrape up the bottom. It was the best meal I had in Florence. Thank you to the owner for being kind and making delicious food. I plan to visit again. It's in an alley. Please go. Just go.

Llevo viviendo en Italia 2 años, me encanta venir a Florencia (mi ciudad favorita en Italia) , fue recomendado este lugar por el dueño de una tienda de cartas y vaya. Genuinamente, esta fue la mejor comida que he tenido desde que me mudé aquí. ¿El caprese? El queso irreal y perfectamente condimentado nunca fue algo que pensé decir, pero lo dije. Un amigo consiguió esta cosa de los ravioles (honestamente ni idea de cómo se llamaba, pero era tan bueno. Nos dieron filete y estaba perfectamente sazonado y perfectamente carbonizado y perfectamente cocinado. No tenía un solo mal bocado de comida aquí. Tendré que volver a Florencia de nuevo solo para comer aquí de nuevo, si pudiera calificarlo con 10 estrellas de 5 lo haría.
