Hotel Ristorante Vagneur In Saint-nicolas

We went for lunch on August 15th, and my review is positive in every way. Excellent food, generous portions, courteous and professional staff. Recommended, we'll be back for a weekend given the possibility of staying overnight.

The hotel is in its original state, but the staff is charming, especially the owner, who is very helpful and answers all our questions. If you're looking for a quiet place with stunning views and beautiful hikes, you've come to the right place. You'll also eat very well: homemade cuisine and a hearty, generous, varied, and very good breakfast. We recommend it for these reasons.

A magnificent evening We found the restaurant by chance, looking on The Fork to see if there was something near the hotel where we were staying. Our only question was: would it be worth climbing to a remote hamlet at 1,700 meters for dinner? The answer is yes. The evening was magnificent, and in Saint Nicolas, with the Grivola in the background, we began to realize that the landscape was a huge plus for our choice. When we arrived at the restaurant, we discovered that the windows in the dining room offered the thrill of a sunset over magnificent mountains. Then the lunch started very well, with a small gesture of courtesy that is still all too rare in Italy: we were first brought a bottle of still water and then asked what we wanted to drink. The menu is all interesting, and choosing is difficult. We opted for the appetizer tasting, which we shared between two (thank goodness, because it was very generous), followed by gnocchi with blue Aosta cheese and baked rabbit. In the end, there's little more to say than that everything was delicious. My favorite thing was the rabbit, a challenging dish, but truly a success, but everything was well thought out, including the friendly and attentive service. When we left, a baby deer ran away as soon as I started the car: it was a shame to have to get out and go back down the valley.

We stayed at this property, located in a beautiful area in the hamlet of Vens, overlooking the Val Saint Nicolas, full of green pastures and tranquility! The hotel is lovely, the staff friendly, the breakfast is rich in delicious dishes, and dinner is not to be missed, featuring a Val d'Aosta menu with excellent food quality! The only drawbacks are the tidy and clean rooms, but they lack TVs, poor Wi-Fi coverage, slightly dated furnishings, and a limited bathroom. Overall, it could use a good refresh and modernization. Recommended for those who love tranquility!

The manager's passion is reflected in the excellent dishes offered. I recommend tasting the house appetizers and the Valdostana risotto.

We had dinner there on a summer evening (unfortunately, the weather was bad). A very charming place with a stunning view. The dinner was excellent, featuring traditional Aosta Valley cuisine, with carefully prepared, tasty dishes made with authentic ingredients. I highly recommend it.

The refuge is in an excellent location for starting off on various trails. Small but very clean rooms. Excellent and plentiful food. The staff and owners are very friendly and helpful. An experience to repeat.

Saturday evening, around 11 pm, two friends, the dog and I urgently need to find a place to pitch our tent for the night and Marco, the owner, suggests we put it in his garden. A minute later it starts pouring with rain, we ask for a room and, despite the time, Marco puts us in a room with extraordinary kindness. The next morning we go down, have breakfast, a friend leaves, while we decide to enjoy another day in a wonderful place, we go trekking to the lake with the dog and tell them we want to stay another night, if there was the possibility. During the day we get to know the entire hotel team, they are all nice, affable, cordial and smiling, very patient and sweet with our dog. Dinner was the icing on the cake, every dish we chose was exquisite and tasty. Ours was an “abnormal” situation for the circumstances, but I would recommend anyone to stay here or simply to stop by for lunch, dinner or an aperitif, a chat with the super kind and prepared staff. The landscape, the valley, the mountains, were the wonderful backdrop to a fantastic overnight stay! Thanks from Stefania, Silvia, Federico and little Burraco!

La salita a Vens a 1735 m s.l.m. per raggiungere il ristorante è più che ripagata dalla bontà e qualità dei cibi, dalla cortesia e cordialità del personale , dalla veduta incantevole della valle e del massiccio del Monte Bianco e dai prezzi più che ragionevoli. Una piacevole scoperta.
