Hosteria Leon D'Oro In Mantova

A treat!! Everything is perfect - the flavors, the very friendly service, the setting... We spent a very good evening with family discovering specialties from Mantua - the tortelli alla zucca are a delight!!

Excellent evening in this intimate little restaurant! The pasta, fish & risotto alla pilota were delicious, & our waiter Federico was charming & gave us a great recommendation for one of the local wines. Well priced for such a class act too. We also came away with jars of their superb homemade apple mostarda. I look forward to going back

Small restaurant, excellent food but not plentiful, a little expensive

We had a wonderful dinner in this very well located restaurant. Table for 2 inside in “showcase”. Efficient and warm welcome and service. Excellent bottle of Italian wine accompanying a particularly tasty meal. All for a truly pleasant moment. THANKS.

Dinner for 4: Good cold cuts platter and small portions (expensive compared to the amount of food) Maccheroncini with ragù and Mantuan agnoli, good but very small portions For dessert, 4 scraps of crumble at €7/portion

An intimate place but at the same time full of character, it offers typical traditional cuisine full of flavour, slightly long waiting times, but definitely worth it. Advised.

The evening started badly when they did not have my reservation, booked by my hotel. No, they insisted, they were fully booked and had never heard of me. I returned to my hotel and they rang. Apparently the "manager" had not been told by the "girl" that I had been turned away. Since the only young woman I had met was a very helpful Bangladesh person who had tried hard to persuade her manager to seat me, I am not sure who the actors in this farce really were. The carbonara I had as primi piatti was lovely, but the beef stew with polenta that followed was decidedly average and served in a fashion more reminiscent of a TV dinner. I had the local Sbrisolona which was nice but then again it can be bought in the streets. The ambience is old school with dark wood, and fine as such. I ain't going to return for my final night. There are better options in town and I have eaten at them over my stay, see my other Mantova reviews.
