Hosteria la vecchia lanterna In Ortona

This restaurant is located in the historic center of Ortona. The place is very charming and traditional. The cuisine was traditional, and everything was delicious, prepared with quality ingredients. The owner was very kind and attentive to customer service and requests. We'll be back during our summer holidays. If you're looking for traditional food, I highly recommend it.

At the old lantern, you eat by candlelight; in fact, there are lots of lanterns with lit candles inside. Because the light is very dim, a blind lady accidentally ate some fake leaves that were decorating the table. He continued to eat the other diners' food because, unfortunately, he couldn't see his own, and he continued to drink from his dog's bowl. A bit embarrassing. At which point we all asked the waiters to turn on the light. They replied that they didn't have electricity because they live in the wild. The water they drink is actually rain, and the wine is just crushed and sweetened grapes. They cook the food over a bonfire in the kitchen (and here we understood why it was so scorching hot). What can I say? It was a truly unique experience. I'm giving it 5 stars because, in their own small way, they were honest, and that should make them soar to the top. Long live honesty, long live candles in lanterns, and long live rain in the glass. Reply to the owner's reply: but is "nn" a unit of measurement?

A mini getaway for my birthday. An unforgettable evening, dinner on Monday. The place was clean and all to ourselves. The food was high-quality and perfectly cooked, it felt like home. We had a delightful chat with the owner, "Grandpa" Severino (but only because he has two grandchildren), a very kind and courteous man. If we return to Ortona, we know where to eat!

Four of us had dinner last night before the concert. The location was very welcoming, traditional, and full of music. The owner was incredibly kind and greeted us upon our arrival. The food is traditional Abruzzo, just what we were looking for—very good and expertly prepared. We were very satisfied, and the concert that followed was wonderful, especially since we had eaten so well. It's definitely a place I'll return to if I have the chance, but if you're visiting Ortona, it's highly recommended!

I went to this Hostaria last night with my partner! A very traditional place, the owner is welcoming, and they cater to allergies. The food is amazing, from the appetizer to the liqueur! Mouth-watering! If you want to enjoy authentic Abruzzo food, stop here!
