My husband and I spent a few days in Ortona. La Vecchia Lanterna was a pleasant surprise. Excellent food: cheese and egg balls, arrosticini, cutting board. Very helpful staff.

We had a good time. There were two of us plus a small child and a dog. Not too crowded, welcoming, courteous and efficient service. The meatballs and pasta were excellent. The arrosticini and the stew were ad hoc. The desserts were also delicious. I would go back

We stumbled upon it by chance, and we promised ourselves we would return. Cozy place, exquisite food, among the appetizers we chose tripe, pasta with cheese and eggs, an excellent rabbit for the second course and traditional desserts... the music playlist was also excellent... a super recommended place

Small place, a slightly dark and dusty environment.
Welcoming and service-minded owner.
Moving on to the food, nothing interesting.
Meatballs with a somewhat anonymous and cold taste.
Good, crunchy focaccia.
The first was terrible: the pasta was overcooked (it also seemed to be of mediocre quality), and the sauce was very heavy and above all COLD.
The side vegetables with polenta were overcooked and bathed in oil.
The only positive dish was the meat and kebabs, with a good flavor and cooked well.
I also highlight that ALL the dishes were decidedly salty.
Overall I wouldn't recommend it, the food is insufficient.

In Ortona for the Vespucci, we chose the Vecchia Lanterna and had a great time. Very good traditional food, the cheese and egg balls with various toppings are highly recommended. The place is traditional and nice, the owner Severino kind and very hospitable. Excellent service. Overall, a very positive experience!

Posto caldo, ambiente familiare. Cucina casereccia ottima, pietanze abbondanti e gustose. Anche il vino della casa eccellente. I proprietari sono gentili e professionali. Abbiamo mangiato benissimo. Le Pallotte non ho fatto in tempo a fotografarle, le abbiamo spazzolate! Ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo. Non vediamo l’ora di tornare! Grazie!!

Osteria dei vecchi tempi, piccola ma molto accogliente, locale con volte a mattoni (cielo di carrozza), molto accogliente. Musica di sottofondo molto piacevole, solo musica di Cantautori Italiani. I piatti sono tipici del posto, ben cucinati, con prodotti di ottima qualità. Lasciano un po' a desiderare i dolci, presentati come preparati da loro e anche questi della tradizione. Prezzo nella media. Lo consiglio.
