Hosteria di Pantalla In Pitigliano

We chose this beautiful part of Tuscany for a few days' vacation. We've always dined at this osteria for the excellent quality of the food at fair prices. A perfect menu choice! Pici, pork shank, sliced ​​beef with truffle, an antipasto with local cured meats and cheeses, seasonal vegetables, and delicious desserts; all carefully prepared by expert hands. One evening we ate the fried porcini mushrooms...divine. If we lived in the area, we'd be regulars! We thank the owner, Silvia, for her hospitality, professionalism, and kindness!

We spent a few days in Pitigliano in August. My partner is vegetarian, and I usually avoid meat year-round to avoid eating at large retailers, but I wanted to try it here. We came across Hosteria di Pantalla at the recommendation of the nearby inn where we were staying. We recommend making a reservation: the first night we tried to go without a reservation, it was full, but by booking, we were able to dine there twice, as we had such a wonderful meal the first time. Silvia is wonderful—fun, welcoming, and professional, and excellent at suggesting what to order. The cuisine is excellent, with generous and high-quality appetizers, exceptional pici, and the rosemary tagliata is definitely the best I've ever eaten in my life. Since I don't eat much meat in general, it was a wonderful discovery. Living in Rome, it's worth the drive even just for a day trip!

You eat like a king and pay the right price!

This inn, located in the countryside between Pitigliano and Farnese, showcases a homely approach to Maremma cuisine. The menu is modest, with quality cured meats, cheeses, and cured meats taking center stage. The location is small, with a single dining room seating about 25, plus outdoor tables. The service is simple, embodying the spirit of a true inn, but attentive, and the prices are fair.

The strength of Pantalla's Osteria lies in the discovery that true luxury lies in simplicity. For us, it's a place close to our hearts. Arriving there via a road that passes through pristine woods and under a star-filled sky, my husband and I always say that those tunnels of branches and leaves transport you to another dimension. For us, Pantalla doesn't exist on paper, but appears out of nowhere just when you least expect it: the wrought-iron tables, the gravel, the fairy lights, the little cats, and the moon. And then you can order and begin to eat: the wonderful pici, the exquisite fried mushrooms (in season), the sumptuous shin of pork. The Signora cooks everything herself, and everything as she was taught, without unnecessary frills but with all the substance and dedication of the past. On winter evenings in Milan, I often think of this place and always hope it's a luxury I can indulge in next summer too.

Very nice place... like the owner.... the dishes are one better than the next... home cooking, high-quality raw materials... what can I say, thank you for existing.

Everything was truly fantastic! I had dinner at this inn with some friends I was spending a weekend with in Pitigliano. Just a few kilometers from the town center, in the beautiful Maremma countryside, lies this family-run restaurant, whose sign alone evokes a sense of the past. We had a Tuscan antipasto, with delicious cured meats and cheeses, homemade giardiniera, and crostini with liver, which reminded me of the ones my aunt used to make. The homemade pasta was excellent, and the lamb alla buglione was particularly special. If you're in the Pitigliano area, it's definitely worth stopping by for lunch or dinner.

Spectacular. Unique. We dined in a charming setting, surrounded by greenery... it felt like we'd been transported to another era. Excellent food, all homemade, and impeccable service. The owner who served us was a real revelation: she may seem a bit shy at first, but then she reveals herself to be a very friendly and welcoming person. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED 🔝
