I'd heard great things about this place, both for the food and the wine list, so we decided to go after a tasting in Franciacorta. We ordered a bit of everything: the onion soup, the cured meat and cheese platter, and especially the meat. We took their advice and, from memory, chose the Danish. The appetizers were all good, nothing to write home about, but everything was good. The meat was more than good, objectively. It didn't seem like a kilo, so we asked, and the owner confirmed it was 800g. Okay, let's move on. We got to the dessert, which I wasn't entirely convinced by; their ice cream was decidedly too heavy. But so far, flavors aside, nothing to complain about. We paid the bill and noticed they'd listed 1kg of meat instead of 800g. We pointed this out to the owner (who had previously told us the actual weight), who immediately corrected the bill. I wouldn't dare say it was done on purpose, but you have to be more careful about these things because they influence your opinion of a place. I'll finish with the wine list: in terms of bottles, quality and quantity, but in terms of glasses, the selection is limited and expensive.

This is our second visit to this restaurant, and we're definitely satisfied. Like last time, we were two couples of friends who found themselves halfway there, and therefore out of the area, for a reunion and a chat. The menu is worth returning to very, very often.

If you're serious about meat and wine, Hostaria al Vapore is your playground! From the moment you step in, you know quality is king: dry-aged cuts on display, a stunning cheese counter with the best local producers, and a super knowledgeable host ready to guide you. Kick things off with a mix of charcuterie and cheeses, then dive into the Prealpi Orobiche scottona tartare with capers, anchovies, and quail egg: pure magic! For mains, the choices are next level: Poule de Bresse, Cacciatora, beef fillet, Iberian pork, or go wild with the dry-aged selection: Goldstein, Avilena, Rubia Gallega, Sashi Prussian, you get the idea, only the best! Yes, prices are on the higher side, but for the quality, it's more than justified.
Meat and wine lovers, this is a spot you won't want to miss!
Hostaria al Vapore in Bergamo is a welcoming place where meat and wines are the real protagonists. A highly knowledgeable and friendly host will welcome you and guide you through your choices. The attention to quality is evident from the moment you enter: on one side, the aged cuts of meat, on the other, a wonderful cheese board from the finest local producers. The menu is a feast for meat lovers: start with a selection of cured meats and cheeses, and try the Tartare of heifer from the Orobic Prealps with capers, anchovies, and quail egg. For main courses, the selection is extensive and top-quality: Poule de Bresse, cacciatore, beef fillet, Iberian suckling pig, and an incredible selection of aged meats such as Spanish Goldstein, Spanish Avilena, Rubia Gallega, and Prussian Sashimi. The prices are high, but commensurate with the exceptional quality offered.
If you're a meat and wine lover, this is the place for you!
