Osteria from other times a few steps from Salerno Cathedral. It is appreciated for the particular goodness of the dishes, rustic but at the same time refined, and for the atmosphere that characterizes it, animated by the innkeeper, Sandro, who is also a person worthy of note.

Una piacevolissima scoperta nel cuore del centro storico di Salerno. Ambiente informale e caratteristico, che trasmette serenità. I piatti sono genuini e ben preparati, le materie prime sono fresche, il proprietario presenta un menu scritto a penna e consiglia direttamente il cliente, senza dimenticare il tono conviviale e familiare. Una esperienza sicuramente da scoprire o da ripetere.

Osteria in the true sense of the word. Few dishes, simple and tasty. Refined environment in its own way: I like it! Friendly and attentive service Excellent value for money Definitely worth doing again.

Great experience! At lunchtime the place was full of voluble Italians talking enthusiastically and gesticulating wildly. More tourists in the evening. You might find yourself sharing a table with some lovely anarchists. The grumpy owner writes the menu by hand with his fountain pen and it's 50% leftwing propaganda. Pictures of communists and existentialists on the wall. The grumpy owner gives you as much wine as he thinks you need and charges you as much as you ought to pay (not very much!). Very special!

The real Italian experience. The Ford is really good, the owner only speaks Italian and they only take cash.

Unique and wonderful Italian food!!!

One of the most interesting places I've eaten in. A movie-like gentleman is the owner, he waits tables, talks to the customers. He is a cultured and interesting man in himself. The place is a homage to him. The food likewise. The menu changes quite often, is hand written, not always easy to decipher. The wine is served in decanters of various capacities, not by the glass. It's the house wine. Prices are definitely competitive. It's a shame to arrive in Salerno and not dine here at least once. / One of the most interesting places I've eaten at. The Hostaria Il Brigante is not only a culinary experience but also a life experience. Located in the historic center of Salerno, near the Duomo, it is a small place for connoisseurs of typical local and homemade cuisine. The environment, with all its historical finds, is characterized by conviviality and finding oneself immersed in a warm and familiar dimension in which the present time is lost. The delicious but simple cuisine is characterized by dishes and side dishes that are always fresh and with authentic flavours. Even the owner, with his spontaneous and familiar welcome, reflects traditional popular culture. The prices are very cheap and affordable for everyone. If you don't know this tavern I highly recommend you go there!

The food was delicious and the host and (I believe) owner were incredibly nice and accommodated us not being able to read the handwritten menu. The food was exceptionally fairly priced considering the high quality, and we were even offered cake at the end. As a tourist with a poor grasp of Italian, it was lovely to feel so welcomed in such an intimate setting. Will absolutely visit again.
