We went to this restaurant a year ago, drawn in by the decor and wanting to try a cuisine a little different from the local fare.
And I have to admit, it was a disappointment overall, with only the wine saving the meal.
And ours was rather salty in the end. A shame.

Positive: Small place, everything visible both inside and out, well organized.
Negative: Water list, small portions, some seem like small bites, overpriced.
Why did I come? Because there were photos on Google Maps that showed your dishes... very good.
I'd like to emphasize that after eating at your place... we went to a nearby restaurant to get our fill, and we ate homemade food... (very good and at the right price).
I'd say not recommended.

There are places you go to eat well, and then there are places like Hostaria del Viale where you return, over and over again—we've lost count of the dozens of times—because every dinner is like a hug. For my partner and I, it's become an absolute must, our refuge in Albenga where haute cuisine doesn't need to be pompous to impress. Here, excellence is evident in the natural way we're welcomed each time, without ever feeling out of place. The credit goes to Federico, who manages to convey his passion in every detail, making you feel like a special guest while maintaining a spontaneity that immediately puts you at ease. It's incredible how the menu evolves with the seasons, bringing the best of the Albenga plain to the table with a creativity that never tires. It's a cuisine deeply rooted in the local area yet always knows how to surprise you with new and unexpected combinations.
Despite the high level of technical skill, what drives us to return dozens of times is precisely this perfect balance between elegance and heart. It's more than just a dinner out, it's the pleasure of finding yourself in a place that's become a part of our own. If you're looking for a high-end experience where true luxury lies in the quality of the ingredients and the sincerity of the welcome, Federico and his Hostaria are an unbeatable guarantee.

Today, our family (2 adults, 2 children) had lunch at the Hosteria: we were extremely satisfied. All the dishes were very good, and the ingredients were top-notch. The fish (also available as "crudo") was exceptionally fresh.
The service was very friendly, and the open kitchen was lovely.
(Minor criticism: the onion soup could have been a bit more flavorful.)
