5 stars because it is not possible to give 6. Anyone who goes to Calabria cannot ignore going to this tavern which is located in the center of the delightful Rende, right in the square. As soon as you enter you can smell the truffle, an ingredient that characterizes many dishes on the menu, first and foremost the characteristic fondue. I ate some delicious tagliolini with butter and truffle, and immediately afterwards a superb Angus fillet, and then finished with a chocolate millefeuille whose goodness cannot be described. The excellent service, starting from the owner who explains her recipes and the products grown on site well, through to all the qualified and friendly dining room staff. The wine cellar is also excellent. Very honest price.

I had the opportunity to have dinner in the hosteria on the evening of my birthday, on the recommendation of a friend. We immediately appreciated the welcoming and unconventionally furnished environment. My husband and I had the impression of immersing ourselves in a timeless atmosphere, different from the usual places, despite being just a few steps from home. I met the owner and I was struck by her determination in choosing unusual foods such as the Pollino truffle and fondue, combining them with typical dishes of our land, I appreciated the quality of the ingredients, the presentation of the dishes and the table service... we left with the impression of having taken a little trip out of the daily routine!! We are very satisfied and will gladly return!

The Hosteria da Mendoza offers very good cuisine, where the truffle is the undisputed protagonist and gives the dishes a special touch. Each course is carefully prepared and you can perceive the attention paid to the main ingredient, which is truly of high quality.
However, compared to a few years ago, I had the impression that the flavors were slightly less incisive than I remembered them. Despite this, it was still a pleasant experience.
Great credit goes to the owner, who stands out for her kindness and hospitality, making the place even more pleasant. A recommended place for those who love truffles and are looking for a familiar and well-kept environment.
