So, I wrote this review 1 1/2 years ago. Seems good things don’t change came back and went again just as good if not better. The wait staff is very friendly, wine is superb. Overall great experience. M Great place to go to if you want authentic Roman food. I asked our concierge to send me to someplace he'd go to and this is where we went. It's not fancy but the food is very good - prices are reasonable. Our waiter showed us pictures of himself with Sylvester Stallone who had been there recently with his family as well as Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen. I guess if it's good enough for them it's good enough for me considering they can eat anywhere they like.

Osteria a stone's throw from Piazza di Spagna, the atmosphere is very friendly, the owners go around the tables and you can see which are regular tables or occasional customers. Prices for some dishes are disproportionate, All this increases the bill by a good +30% which is unjustified in my opinion. They recommend cured meats, mozzarella and truffle-based dishes as starters, which will certainly be of quality but perhaps not what I was looking for. Grandma's cake overpriced and not to my liking. The Cotoletta has two different prices, on the menu 18 while I paid 20, which I didn't point out but gave me the feeling of not caring about the customer. Not my favorite about Rome.

Every time we are lucky enough to visit Rome, we ALWAYS dine at this fine hostaria. Pasta and daily specials are - across the board - first class. The Carbonara……some of the very best in Rome. An extensive wine list and loads of value in the menu make this place a hidden dream - just a few streets away from the bottom of the Spanish Steps. Don’t miss this place !

02/02/2025: We just happened upon Montarozzo 8 years ago on an Appian walkabout and it blew us away. Back in country we had to do it again and it was simply awesome and so authentic. Love the place!!
20/01/2025: Very nice place, excellent food, excellent service, the waiters were all kind, polite and professional.
