What a pity. The food here was always very good and the selection was excellent. The place is nice and its one of the last good Osterie in central Rome. This time however the host did not say a word when I arrived, just made an arrogant head movement and showed me to a - ok decent - table. Roman arrogance! My waiter was nice but again on the rough side. And I know the roman difference of kind roughness and arrogant roughness since I was a child. But finally: Roman arrogance! Then a waiter and someone in the kitchen who thought they could not communicate except by screaming and bothering all guests completely ruined the evening. And that was sheer Roman stupidity. Pity as the food was really good.

Honestly, the food was amazing. The best salad with a super authentic flavor, and the pasta was cooked to perfection with a fantastic sauce. The problem comes when you're a guiri (tourist, for those who translate): the treatment is distant, and they take a long time to serve you. We were made to get up from the table where we were initially seated because it was reserved, but they sat there themselves. Then the waiter was a bit rude, but then he tried to correct it with some conversation. Honestly, I would go back, but once I can speak Italian and go unnoticed as a tourist.

Did we get scammed? We went there for our first lunch in rome. The food was good but thats about it. It's an expensive place and we ended up paying 8 eur extra but only noticed when we were already out, seems like we got scammed. The potions were also small, can't really justify paying 50 eur for two small basic pasta dishes...

Risotto with black truffle to my taste, the rice is still a bit uncooked. Therefore, I suggest can choose eggs with truffle. Roman style artichoke is very tasty. We also ordered a tomato sauce stew veal marrowbone, that was fantastic. I didn’t even have time to take a picture and it’s finished.

Hostaria La Botticella

18/08/2025: Perfect for a wine or beer after a long day in the city. Very centrally located, next to Piazza Navona. The waiters are very friendly and the atmosphere is great.
05/08/2025: First I need to say this restaurant is no longer the La Botticella it was when I dined there in 2019. Pre-pandemic this restaurant was owned by two sisters and was hands down the best meal we ate in all of Italy. So if that is the place you are looking for this is not it anymore. Although the name has not changed on Google it is now different in person, it's called Il Botticelli. I visited Rome again a few months ago and came back in hopes of the same experience that I had years prior (Even though I was unsure because Google had this location marked as permanently closed for quite some time). I will say the food was good this time, it was just a different menu and prices were much higher. Although that can be said for everywhere these days. The menu was smaller and there were certain items that I remember having that were no longer on the menu. There was definitely a change in ownership. I had the carbonara which I thought was delicious. I remember when we dined here years ago we had overflowing carafes of house wine that were never empty and extremely cheap, food came out as it was ready basically family style (we were a large group of 10), they sent out limoncello and amaro at the end. And our bill was like 200€ total. One sister ran the front of house and the other was in the kitchen. It was crowded, a bit warm, hectic, but felt like were in an Italian home with family. I leave three stars because I think it's misleading to keep the name on Google with the old reviews and I was disappointed in the wine selection and prices, as well as the more limited menu. I have no complaints about the service but it was not as inviting as it used to be. I still would recommend it if you're in the area, I just had been searching for so long trying to find out if it was the same restaurant or not that I wanted to leave this review. So if there's anybody else out there trying to find out the same, now you know.

La Forchetta d'Oro

27/07/2025: We ate at this restaurant 4 times. The owner always gives a compliment before the meal (meatballs, salad, grilled vegetables - very tasty), after the meal tiramisu, it was not included in the bill. The food is delicious. Be prepared for unhurried service, like in Italy. Of course, we left a tip on top, because the owner brought us a lot of food outside the bill and the prices of the dishes are very inexpensive. For example, spaghetti carbonara 10 €, a huge plate of seafood 20 €. I recommend.
26/07/2025: Easily I can say. The best restaurant experience i’ve had in my life was in this place. The owner was very kind, and the food was spectacularly good. I think this place is as much worth visiting as Roman Colosseum.
