We chose this enchanting place for our son's First Communion and were truly delighted. Paolo, the owner, and his staff made our day special. The location is enchanting and immersed in ancient Rome, with a beautiful view of the Mausoleum of Cecilia Metella. Appetizers, two first courses, mixed grill, fruit gelato, cake, amaro, and more!
Everything was delicious, and the portions were generous. Thanks also to Massimo, who carefully supervised to ensure everything was perfect. I recommend it for any type of event. A well-deserved 5 stars.

My wife and I had an unforgettable experience at Hostaria Antica Roma. The proprietor Paolo treated us as family during our dinner and we greatly appreciated his company and infectious personality. We had the Roman Lasagna and suckling pig which were both amazing. For dessert we had the tiramisu which was delicious and a dish from the historic catalouge that was also tasty. Leaving the property we walked down the historic Appian way in darkness admiring the haunting and majestic Mausoleo di Cecilia Metella which is adjacent to the property. We can't wait to come back and plan on visiting every time we are in Roma.

Probably the only restaurant in Rome with dishes from the Roman Empire. As an enthusiast of ancient Rome, I ended up here by chance after visiting several sights along the Via Appia Antica. Paolo, the owner, has spent years studying the old cookbooks of Apicius, Columella, and Cato, and has uncompromisingly placed the best recipes from that era on his menu. He serves the food himself and does so with flair. Don't expect haute cuisine—that's not how the Romans cooked—but prepare yourself for an unforgettable evening, essential for a trip to Rome with an emphasis on antiquity.

Beautiful location, with lots of greenery and Roman ruins in the background. Excellent lunch featuring ancient Roman dishes, explained first by the charming Paolo (the host), then by a professor expert in archaeonutrition. Impeccable table service, kind and patient staff. A truly wonderful day!!! Thanks to Osteria Antica Roma and all its staff!!

We enjoyed excellent traditional Roman cuisine here. The restaurant even offers dishes from Apicius, who cooked at large events in Rome 2,000 years ago and wrote the first comprehensive cookbook.
Beyond the food, our host gave us numerous recommendations that we won't forget.
The restaurant is located opposite Cecilia Metella
in a beautiful garden setting.
