Eravamo già stati all'Hostaria Antica Roma altre volte, cercando di privilegiare quelle occasioni, davvero speciali, in cui il già ricco menu si arricchisce di più piatti ispirati alla Roma antica. Per il pranzo di Pasquetta però si sono proprio superati! Prezzo contenuto, antipasti da leccarsi i baffi, qualche bella sorpresa anche tra le portate principali.... su tutte "Isicia Omentata" (ovvero polpette di maiale in salsa d’uva), una bontà che io e la mia compagna abbiamo gustato per la prima volta. Speriamo trovi sempre più spazio in menu, anche al di fuori dei pranzi o cene speciali e delle giornate di festa!

Excellent menu that combines the Roman gastronomic tradition with dishes from ancient Rome. Cozy place in a unique location like the Antica Via Appia. The owner's explanation about the mystery sauce and his anecdotes are an extra emotional touch.

A must do when in Rome!!! The food and atmosphere was fantastic. We visited for lunch after touring the catacombs, and it was our favorite meal in Rome. 10/10

We found this place after a long, treacherous walk along the Appian Way. We really needed something to drink and eat, so this was a welcome site! It was set back past a couple of other eateries, but there were clear signs sending us through a lovely garden toward the grounds of this very old restaurant. The vibe was fancy, and the menu was very different. Supposedly, they had some items that were made from recipes taken from the very first ever printed cookbook. If that is true, that's pretty historical! Of course, we had to try some of those, included the most delicious desserts we've ever eaten! The waiter, who is the owner's son, gets up and tells stories to the people dining, so be prepared to be entertained. When I told him I was trying to learn Italian, his father, who spoke almost no English and is in his 80's, came and gave me a poster of the historical castle-like structure that is right on the grounds of this restaurant that, like most things in Rome, is extremely old and full of rich history. Quite a friendly bunch! We had two main courses, two desserts, and appetizer, and a bottle of prosecco for 90 Euros.

More than a restaurant it is an experience. In the splendid setting of the Appia Antica, in front of Cecilia Metella, you can taste traditional dishes accompanied by the owner's anecdotes linked to the various dishes. We celebrated our wedding there a few years ago and it is always a pleasure to return.

Local located along the Appia Antica in a particularly privileged position, as it is in front of the mausoleum of Cecilia Metella. The dishes offered are varied as, in addition to those typical of modern Roman cuisine, a good number of preparations taken from ancient Roman recipes are also available. There is no shortage of conviviality, irony and excellent customer care.

Io e la mia ragazza siamo andati per l occasione a San Valentino in questo stupendo gioiello immerso nella bellezza dell’Appia antica. Ad accoglierci camerieri gentilissimi e dei piatti deliziosi, oltre che un’atmosfera deliziosa e accogliente. Serata bellissima e indimenticabile ci tornerò senz altro.
