Super great ambience, great food and you get a lot of interesting information about the knight's life and the underland of Martin. Highly recommended 👍🏼😊

Stopped for a Cappuccino in town and learned about Castle Haderburg. Beautiful and imposing, we knew we had to make this hike up especially because there was a restaurant at the top. So worth it! The staff was super friendly, fun, and welcoming. I wish more people knew about this experience! Top stars! Yes, I bought one of the 15 special bottlings of Haderburg Scotch.

We found out about the place in the castle through advertisements for beer tasting packages. A walk of about 30/40 minutes at a leisurely pace because it's uphill.

This is actually an ancient castle. And then - a restaurant. The place is simply a must visit in this region. Here you can feel the authentic atmosphere of a medieval castle. But they never made us sandwiches, although they did have sausage...

The castle tavern at the foot of the Haderburg is served by two authentic innkeepers, or one could say, a lovely barmaid and a rib smith, who conjure up real delicacies in the small field kitchen. We can highly recommend the smoked ribs and the coleslaw. A cool red beer or the house Vernatsch goes well with this. We loved it and will definitely come back!

From below, this is where the Haderburg castle looks like only extreme mountaineers can build it on its lonely rock. But far from it, a well-developed path enables almost everyone to visit the magnificent castle and its decent tavern. After you have experienced the centuries in the actual Upper Castle, you go to the Lower Castle, whose smells of grilling and smoking are hard to miss.
For the first thirst we had a somewhat weak raspberry syrup spritzer and its pale sister, the rarer but less popular elderberry spritzer. That made us sad because the tavern specializes in whiskey, gin and beer. Alone, we wanted to go down on foot and not with the Christoph 1 rescue helicopter.
The main course was great - pulled pork burger, the so-called Haderburger, in a pretzel bun. Heavenly meat, which has become a dream during the hours of grilling and smoking, with slightly moussing cabbage and a secret recipe sauce that you can be proud of between Bolzano and Truento.
The 'potato wedges', on the other hand, are a misunderstanding in many respects. Although squares are also 'corners', elongated squares are - and understandable in terms of price - fries. And probably because the knights were once hardened, the 'French fries' wedges were unfortunately too. In addition, they were so well oiled that after they were all eaten, 3mm of oil remained in the bowl. This should be possible to improve with little effort - for example by not taking the corners out of the oil with a ladle.
We sat comfortably at the Haderburg, outside in wonderful weather, chatted, laughed at visitors dressed in historical costumes, it was a good experience that we were happy to have for you.
