I came here because a local recommendation sent me hunting for one of Rome’s oldest summer traditions, and it ended up being one of my favorite stops in Trastevere. This place has been serving grattachecca for generations, and you can feel it the moment you walk up. There is no gimmick, no tourist trap energy, just a family carrying on a Rome tradition that has survived for over a century. I was fully prepared to order something safe, but the staff talked me into watermelon and pineapple. They were absolutely right. Fresh, bright, refreshing, and exactly what you want while wandering Rome on a warm afternoon. What I loved most was that it felt authentic. Not manufactured. Not polished for Instagram. Just locals, history, shaved ice, fresh fruit, and people who clearly care about what they’re serving. If you’re visiting Trastevere, double up on the generic gelato line and also come experience a piece of living Roman history instead.

It's not often in Rome that you encounter such kind, impeccable, and talented managers!!! After we'd ordered our grattachecca, one of the two gentlemen approached us and invited us to make ourselves more comfortable on the chairs they'd provided. Finally, he offered us water to clean our hands and some tissues. These are "little" details that really make a difference and help customers understand where to turn, among the many options the city offers. It's why we'll definitely be back! Thanks again :)
