A very friendly, old-fashioned little restaurant where you eat like you're at home. A little removed from the tourist center, but it's a real treat. I highly recommend it.

I was at this wonderful restaurant last night! We hadn't booked. There was no room. Let's make up our minds, let's book for later. You know the time of year... How lucky we were that a table became available inside! It was fate! 😇 They welcomed us with courtesy and efficiency. We ordered typical dishes from the Lucca area (me), my husband more typical Tuscan ones! Let me start by saying: FABULOUS😍 Let's start with a mixed Tuscan appetizer: the Tuscan crostone? The bomb! You could eat 10 of them! Then I ordered the tordelli... a spectacle! My husband asked me to share... I didn't even think about it! He had the pappa al pomodoro! Excellent... but my tordelli were even better! Then a second course... a breaded pork cutlet sautéed in a very simple sauce (tomato, capers...) accompanied by fried vegetables... a fairy tale! Half a liter of the house red wasn't enough! 🤣 We also had dessert... to keep things light, some homemade cantucci! Excellent! We even had a chance to chat with the staff! It's always a pleasure! Anyway: WE HAD A GREAT TIME! Value for money? Excellent!

Well-maintained and welcoming place. Quick and friendly service. Good value for money, even though expectations were very high. The dishes arrived very quickly after the appetizer. This gave me the impression they were already prepared. Especially the chicken and potatoes. The potatoes were—almost certainly—reheated and greasy. The tiramisu was disappointing: too creamy, without eggs, and the chocolate powder was awful (not authentically bitter).

I had the pleasure of dining there and was truly impressed by the kindness and attentiveness of the staff. The service was impeccable, from the moment we entered the restaurant until the end of the meal. What struck me most, however, was the authenticity of the products used. Each dish was prepared with care and attention, and you could taste the freshness and quality of the ingredients. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic and genuine culinary experience. The value for money is excellent, and the service is always friendly and welcoming.

Best experience in Lucca. We went twice during our stay of a few days. Highly recommended. We followed the Slow food guide which has proven to be very reliable during our two weeks in Tuscany.

Gigi Trattoria es un lugar encantador escondido de las concurridas zonas turísticas dentro de las murallas de la ciudad de Lucca, una gran opción si busca una comida más tranquila y relajada. Estábamos sentados afuera, y cuando llegó una lluvia inesperada y una tormenta de granizo, el personal cerró el espacio para mantener a todos secos, lo cual fue muy apreciado. El ambiente se mantuvo tranquilo y acogedor, incluso con el clima. Comenzamos con un par de antipasti: una ensalada de burratas y tomate con pesto, que era fresca y sabrosa, y un plato de crostini, uno de los cuales presentaba una misteriosa cobertura blanca que parecía sashimi de cola blanca en el pan. Todo el mundo dudaba un poco, pero yo le di un olor, lo probé, y de hecho lo disfruté — ¡resultó ser manteca de cerdo, y fue sorprendentemente bueno! Para nuestros primi, probamos los ñoquis con tomates secos y burrata, que era rico y satisfactorio. También probamos un rigatoni con ragù y un macarrones a base de tomate, aunque la forma de la pasta no coincidía con lo que normalmente pensamos que son macarrones, seguía siendo un buen plato. Algunas desventajas: había bastantes mosquitos, por lo que podría ser prudente traer repelente si se come fuera. Además, el personal de camareros era un poco lento para calentar, profesional pero no particularmente amable al principio. En general, Gigi Trattoria ofrece un entorno tranquilo con comida sólida y algunas sorpresas agradables, una buena opción si busca escapar de las multitudes para una comida tranquila en Lucca
