Excellent food and nice interior. Friendly staff and owner. 8/12/24 After 2 years we returned here for dinner. One confirmed obviously. The only flaw was a bloody brawl and bottles between non-EU citizens in the adjacent square, unfortunately now recurring in many Italian cities.

Went for dinner, the food is good, the service is excellent, very nice and kind, the internal environment is very characteristic and nice.

Lovely family run place near Mercado. Enjoyed a terrific lunch of Rigatoni al Gigi, Tagliatelle in a White Bolognese sauce. Carmine who runs Gigi is a warm and friendly guy. Pro tip…don’t leave without trying their homemade Biscotti. The best we have ever had!

We went there twice and ate well twice. They had indicated it to me and I must say it exceeded expectations. The food was excellent as were the friendly waitresses and I don't know if it was the owner who was also kind and gave us the discount on the bill. Fresh bread, good tordelli, super gnocchi, caramelized and peppery pork fillet with excellent polenta, super tiramisu; what I ate.

Excellent food at a great price. I had the polpettine (meat balls) which were tasty. I also had the tagliatelle which were delicious. They were light but also rich at the same time. For dessert I had the cake of the day which was a cheesecake with chocolate on top. Everything was so tasty. The staff was very friendly as well.

The intense but balanced taste surprised and delighted us. Even though it was December 8th, a particularly busy Sunday, the staff was impeccable: kind, quick and attentive to every detail. We felt welcomed and pampered, like in a real Tuscan family. If you are in Lucca and want to savor tradition in a warm and convivial atmosphere, Trattoria da Gigi is the right place. Trattoria scoperta su Google e con cucina aperta anche alle 22 che ci ha accolto di ritorno dalla vacanza. Il ristorante è molto carino, il personale gentile, simpatico e disponibile. Abbiamo preso un atipasto e i primi e devo dire che era tutto molto buono. Buon rapporto qualitò/prezzo. Una bella scoperta e una cena molto piacevole. Lo consiglio!

Sat outside on the plaza with a group of friends and shared multiple appetizers and pasta dishes. Food, and service....and wine - excellent - highly recommend.
