Sant’Andrea delle Fratte has two angel statues inside that were originally supposed to be placed near Castel Sant’Angelo. Supposedly they were considered too beautiful, so the pope decided to keep them inside the church instead. Definitely worth seeing.

The Basilica di Sant'Andrea delle Fratte is an exceptionally beautiful and historically significant church in the center of Rome, located just off the Spanish Steps. The name delle Fratte (literally "in the thicket" or "in the bushes") recalls medieval times, when this area was located on the outskirts of the city and was overgrown.
Today, this basilica is a true paradise for connoisseurs of Baroque art, as two of the greatest geniuses of the era worked on it: Francesco Borromini and Gian Lorenzo Bernini.
The church's most important treasure is two magnificent marble statues of angels by Gian Lorenzo Bernini: the Angel with the Inscription on the Cross and the Angel Crowned with Thorns. Bernini originally created them for the famous Ponte Sant'Angelo. However, Pope Clement IX deemed them too beautiful to be left exposed to the elements. Copies were eventually placed on the bridge, and the originals were transferred to this church in the 18th century, where they stand on either side of the main altar. Unlike the statues on the bridge, which stand high on pedestals, Bernini's angels inside the church are at eye level. This allows one to appreciate in detail the incredible delicacy of the artist's work, the texture of the "living" marble, and the expressive folds of their garments.
Francesco Borromini designed a remarkable multi-tiered bell tower (campanile) and apse for this church. The bell tower of Sant'Andrea delle Fratte is considered one of the architect's most original and whimsical creations. Due to its unusual, dynamic form and decoration, it is often called the "dancing" tower.
The church is also an important pilgrimage site. The chapel on the left is the site of a famous religious event: on January 20, 1842, the Virgin Mary appeared here to the wealthy Jewish lawyer Alphonse Ratisbonne, prompting his immediate conversion to Catholicism. The icon in this chapel is revered as miraculous, and the church itself is designated a sanctuary (Santuario della Madonna del Miracolo).
Be sure to walk around the church from Via Capo le Case to see the unusual brick drum and Borromini's bell tower—a classic example of Baroque architectural geometry.

There are places you visit, and then there are places you feel. The Basilica of Sant'Andrea delle Fratte, in the heart of Rome, was just that for me: a silent, intense emotion, difficult to explain in words. Entering from the street, almost suddenly, I had the feeling of leaving the noise of the city outside. Rome continued to live just a few steps away, but inside, time seemed to slow down. The soft light, the silence, the elegance of the naves... everything conveys a rare peace, the kind that comes straight from within. I stopped several times simply to observe. Every detail tells a story: the frescoes, the chapels, the hidden corners, Bernini's splendid angels that seem almost alive. There is a profound beauty, not only artistic, but emotional. A beauty that needs no words or grandeur to strike a chord. What moved me most was the atmosphere. Sant'Andrea delle Fratte is not just a basilica to visit, but a place that welcomes you. It invites you to stop, to breathe, to think. Sitting in silence, I felt incredibly small before so much history, yet at the same time enveloped in a sense of serenity hard to find elsewhere. Perhaps this is the true charm of certain places: they manage to speak to you without saying anything. And this basilica does so with extraordinary delicacy. I recommend anyone passing through Rome to step inside, even if only for a few minutes. Because sometimes, in the heart of the most chaotic and wonderful city in the world, you can still find corners capable of offering peace, emotion, and genuine wonder.

Worth a visit. It's essential to thoroughly understand the church's history, the history of the figures present there, the miracle that occurred, and the numerous relics.

Beautiful, amazing sanctuary, I was fascinated inside, but it can't be explained, you have to go inside to understand.

Very beautiful. Unfortunately, the nave is under construction, so it's covered in scaffolding. The apse and transept, however, are fully accessible.
