It seemed like a happy coincidence that I found Gelateria Friso - I’m from San Francisco, USA! I was staying in a nearby hotel and the reception staff said « The gelateria nearby is really good! » It was REALLY good. Family-owned and operated. The shop is opposite the Saint Antonio Church. When I was there in June, you could not survive without something cold to eat or drink. I enjoyed fruit gelato, classic chocolate, pistachio and other flavors. As a gelato/ice cream fiend, this shop was a welcome relief everyday I was in Padua - I was there four days! They also had granita which is that icy dessert that was a lifesaver in 90+ degree heat. Local families are at the shop. Neighbors chatting up the family staff members-very heartwarming. You can’t miss the Gelateria; it is under the portico-like covering, there is a circular cushioned seat opposite the shop window where you can relax and eat your 🍧 gelato.

Good gelato, beautiful location. Excellent Mediterranean flavor. It's a shame I'm a tourist passing through and can't return.
