An honest seafood restaurant with the right flavours

Il Nino is an institution in the lower Modena/Mantua area. The risotto is fresh, creamed very well and really plentiful. My husband and I love grilled fish, children's dishes, pumpkin tortelli. You go home with a full belly and a smile.

A slap in the face to the well-groomed establishments where appearance counts more than substance. This is a sui generis restaurant, appearances in this case are deceiving and the substance is mouth-watering. We ate a total of two lunches and one dinner, always fish, always exceptional! The place is a speck, if you don't have expectations of stellar locations and kid-glove service, well then you have to stop by because you will surely have fun! But above all you will eat divinely at a very honest price. I revised my review up after a year. In the meantime we have returned several times with friends and clients, practically always foreign, coming from every corner of the earth and I can assure you that everyone remembers with pleasure a lunch or dinner spent here. Nino has always satisfied them all. Simply unique

Big Nino don't go out with top hunger

We need to make a premise: restaurants are divided into many categories and before going to eat in one place or another you need to understand what you are looking for. Having said that, the place is in a small provincial village, equipped with everything you need to spend a good evening, especially in summer where the setting with the classic "festival" lights gives a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. Better to book because it's always full. Menu: the fact that there is no paper menu is part of what I wrote in the introduction. In places like this, those who sit down usually ask "what are you bringing us?", often leaving it up to the restaurateur who knows what's fresh and what to recommend. Obviously, as in my case, if you are allergic to something you let it be known. The 7 of us had dinner with a mussel appetizer, marinara risotto and mixed grill: very generous quantities and quality that has nothing to envy compared to more renowned places on the sea coast. The bill: just over 30 each. For me a very pleasant discovery.
