Very nice place, with the Ossola mountains on the horizon and cow pasture just a few dozen meters away. Particular architecture, with a sloping wooden roof. Friendly staff, served quickly. Good quality and adequate price, even cheap these days. Suitable for trips to the Ossola valleys. Advised.

Nice place, practical because close to the Strada statale for Simplon and Milan. Good local cuisine.

Excellent osteria. Food is very good with many 0km choices. Wile list is extended and offered some local wines like the 700 year old Prunent.

Montecrestese: a lunch to remember We had lunch at the Osteria Gallo Nero in Montecrestese and were pleasantly surprised. The menu offers traditional Piedmontese dishes revisited with skill, using high quality local products. We started with a rich platter of mixed cold cuts and cheeses, accompanied by a delicious vegetable pie. Next, the snails bourguignonne won us over with their delicacy and generous portions. The chestnut gnocchi with porcini mushrooms were simply perfect, with a perfect balance of flavours. The Piedmontese tagliatelle, cooked to perfection, proved to be the icing on the cake. We concluded the meal with two corn flour panna cottas, an original and light dessert, which left an excellent memory. The quality-price ratio is excellent: two of us spent 103 euros, including a bottle of water and a glass of wine. We were so satisfied with lunch that we immediately booked a table for dinner. Unfortunately, an unexpected event prevented us from notifying us of our absence, a regret that we carry with us. We highly recommend Osteria Gallo Nero to anyone looking for an authentic, quality dining experience in a welcoming environment. Service has potential to improve.
