A lovely restaurant on a green plain. Friendly and attentive service. Dishes that invite you to return for more. For this experience, the Ossola platter of cured meats and cheeses. Chestnut flour gnocchi with mushrooms and toma, crespelle with nettle tips and ricotta, and finally, an apple and chestnut parcel. Enjoy your meal!

The service was really disinterested and it was made clear that it was a big priority to get 2 sittings at our table. My vitello tonnato was tasty and the main was too, though I would have made that as well (I'm not a professional cook). I feel disappointed. We live just over the border in Switzerland and have recently been to the Olympics in Livigno and Bormio - the service, food and passion for fine dining was in a totally other league there. Shame.

The restaurant is surrounded by lush greenery, very beautiful and bright. On nice days, especially in the summer, you can also eat outside. As for the food, we ordered a lard and honey platter to share, and the first and second courses were all very good. The beer was also good. The staff was very friendly and service was quick. I highly recommend this place! 👍

We went for lunch today. The service was attentive and fast, the location beautiful, and the food excellent.
The gnocchi Ossolani were delicious, and the panna cotta revisited with polenta flour was exceptional.

Excellent Sunday lunch.
Osteria Gallo Nero has become a firm favourite for us. Discovered last summer, we've already returned several times for Sunday lunch. This modern, rustic location is very welcoming and always well-maintained. Very kind and attentive staff, with prompt service from all of them. The menu is varied, featuring local specialties and many options that change with the seasons. The wine list is truly interesting. One visit isn't enough; you have to come back again and again...

The chestnut flour gnocchi, toma cheese, and porcini mushrooms are highly recommended. The grilled vegetables on the side were also well-cooked and flavorful. The chef's crepes were good, if a little too sweet. The place is very welcoming and elegant. The quality-price ratio is good (perhaps unusual, except for the desserts). For three of us, we spent almost €100. The desserts were a bit disappointing, and the menu didn't clearly specify what they were made of; for example, it wasn't stated that the coffee affogato also included whipped cream and biscuits. Dogs are welcome, meaning they are allowed. The wine list is extensive (we ordered two glasses of Chardonnay), and you can also opt for the daily specials, which are clearly listed on the first page of the menu. The service was quite attentive and quick. Overall, it's definitely worth a try if you're passing through. The bread they served was homemade and very good, as were the homemade breadsticks. Luckily, they also had some vegetarian options for me, as I don't eat meat. We visited it in January 2026...
