This is a lovely little restaurant run with passion and skills by a young team.
We visited on a Saturday lunchtime in February. We secured our reservation on-line. The host presented and explained the menu to us giving us the history and philosophy of the restaurant.
Our choices followed a complimentary (and delicious) amuse bouche. We couldn't be happier.
This is a little gem worth a detour.
A note on getting there... The train is the obvious way... Driving is possible but there is extremely limited parking (one multi storey car park) and it would ruin your day if you went in mid-to-high season.
We will definitely go again.

Fuori Rotta ended up being one of our favorite meals in Cinque Terre. The food is thoughtful, refined, and clearly made for diners who appreciate real craft—not just tourists passing through.
The onion appetizer was the standout dish of the night: surprising, complex, and incredibly well executed. The venison ravioli was rich and beautifully balanced, and both mains—the fish and the chicken—were cooked perfectly with clean, focused flavors.
Service was warm, the setting relaxed but elevated, and the whole experience felt genuinely memorable. Highly recommend.

The food was great, but the overall experience slightly underwhelming. One of the staff members eating and stuffing his mouth behind the main counter and then my pet hate - being served a few slices of bread and some olive oil being described as a local delicacy and then charged 6 Euro for it! Honestly! Charge for it upfront or increase the fees of your menu items - this truly leaves a bad taste in the mouth!

This is hands down the best restaurant in Riomaggiore. It’s absolutely baffling to see a 4.2 star overall review. This is the only fine dining experience you’ll get in town and it is fantastic. Amazing gluten free options.

Three serving staff: 2 were lovely, unfortunately the guy who greeted then looked after us clearly didn't want to be there and was as miserable as sin. This paired with the god awful elevator music they were playing made for a dead atmosphere.
Now I know you're not supposed to expect a massive slap up meal at a place like this, but the food portions were TINY. My secondi plate was a fish-finger sized filet of croker and some carrot puree. The veggie options was a small potato rosti and a few spinach leaves. We actually went and grabbed a plate of pasta from a place up the road afterwards as we left feeling like we actually hadn't had a meal.
It all tasted lovely and was well cooked, but the food was nowhere near good enough to justify all of the above.
The wine list, on the other hand, was extensive and very well thought out.
Wouldn't go back.
