11/03/2025: I think that I can count just a little more than a couple of perfect lunches in Piacenza, and L'Antica Sosta dei Cavalli is one of them. It's been a long time since a restaurant surprised me in such a positive way. The business card reads "typical Piacenza and revisited cuisine"; a perfect summary of what you can expect from this place: we, in fact, were able to taste both traditional dishes and experimental dishes, never seen before in other places. The tortelli with tail and the wild boar ravioli were simply amazing, as was the cold cuts platter with the fried gnocco. The side dish of onions, peppers and courgettes is also very popular. But above all, we welcomed with great pleasure the extreme attention of the staff not only in controlling the room, but also for the individual courses. I have rarely seen such meticulousness in the plating, as well as in the taste, in Piacenza. It has nothing to envy of certain sophisticated establishments recognized at a national level. The neutral colors of the walls, in addition to being expertly combined with the tablecloths and other furnishing components, also rest the eyes, for an experience that is particularly intimate and personal. For such quality, the prices are fair. But what I appreciated most, as the icing on the cake, were the desserts. It is very easy, in fact, for a restaurant to tend to overshadow desserts, risking taking away their value, while here they shine in all their delight. I don't think I've tried such a fresh and tasty millefeuille elsewhere, and the same goes for the sbrisolona with zabaglione (one of the best in the city, in my opinion). In short, lunch couldn't have ended better like this. I again congratulate all the staff, who gave us an unforgettable experience. We will definitely be back.
