Fontellisola In Rieti

Fontellisola is "The restaurant" where I practically grew up, I saw it when it still had a swimming pool and it remains to this day a place where you feel at home, you eat delicious local products in generous portions, homemade wines, beers on tap, their focaccia and homemade bread with their appetizers first of all ABSOLUTELY worth trying!

A welcoming and charming place. The appetizer of local cured meats was EXCELLENT, as well as plentiful, and the bruschetta seasoned with the new olive oil was also excellent. The wine, bread, and homemade olive oil were excellent. My wife and I (after brazenly requesting and devouring a second helping of their homemade loin) ordered two large, tender and juicy grilled beef steaks with a side of sautéed chicory that... spoke for themselves. As soon as we'd finished enjoying this excellent meat, the (very kind) waitress appeared and offered us a taste of their freshly cooked specialty, PADELLACCIA (on the house), a kind of pork stew (which unfortunately can only be enjoyed at certain times of the year) with an unmistakably savory flavor. To round out the meal, we enjoyed some homemade pastries, coffee, and... a bottle of amaro left on the table for our use. I won't tell you how much I spent on the bill because you'll find out for yourself, but I can assure you that this place deserves the HONESTY AWARD. We can't wait to go back. GREAT!

Meat, pasta, and pizza deserve four stars, but the location and structure aren't, the place could get three stars. If you eat out, it's nice. However, if you're hungry and like to eat, go there. Vincenzo won't disappoint. Welcoming staff, good value. It's an excellent restaurant for value. Pizza rounds for €15, if you eat a full meal, no more than €25.

Always a good place for pizza and a barbecue

The restaurant is nestled in the greenery on a hill. The access road is narrow and quite bumpy, a two-way street, but only about a car and a half can fit. There's ample parking on the gravel road. It was a rainy day, so we couldn't enjoy the lovely terrace in front of the restaurant. Beautiful, spacious dining room with a huge fireplace, which is always delightful company, especially in the evenings, during the winter months! We sat at a table of about 40 people, and the Italian-style appetizers arrived immediately: cold cuts, cheeses, giblets, and beans. All were delicious, but the portions were a bit small, especially the cold cuts. A very good focaccia accompanied everything. Pasta all'amatriciana for the first course, served on trays for you to plate yourself, was delicious! Mixed grill for the second course, unfortunately a bit cold, as were the potatoes on the side. The wait between each course was a bit long, a dinner that lasted over three hours with only three courses! All in all, it's average, but let's just say it wouldn't be my first choice in the area in the future.

We stumbled upon this little restaurant almost by chance, in the heart of a small village near Rieti, and were truly thrilled. The food was simply delicious: dishes prepared with fresh ingredients, traditional recipes executed to perfection, and more than generous portions. Each course had a homey flavor, but with a touch of care and creativity that made the meal special. The service was impeccable: the staff were kind, smiling, and always attentive, making us feel welcomed and pampered from start to finish. The warm, family atmosphere made you want to return.
