Estro In Venezia

Tasting my menu and wine pairing very good for the price. Unique wines well paired. Shrimp was cooked perfectly and the risotto was perfect. Jasmine was outstanding but was the only one serving. Adding another person would be an adjustment that would be well worth it as timing would be improved.

We enjoyed razor clams, raw and cooked fish, but the best part was the wine recommendation: a splendid Amarine, thanks to the sommelier!

We notified Estro that this was our first dinner of our Honeymoon upon getting to Italy, and despite that and mentioning it again upon arrival nothing was done to add any extra sparkle to the dining experience. But that aside, the gazpacho was hot, the risotto under cooked, the lighting was so bright, the music non-existent. I picked this place due to the Michelin status and the wine selection, but the room stays so warm I’m not sure I’d trust most of the storage for the natural wines on the list. We ordered a Barolo that was served well above even room temperature and didn’t come into proper serving temp until mid-dinner. I wanted to have a good start to our honeymoon trip so I grinned and beared through these things as to not seem like a jerk, but wanted to provide a warning to you so you don’t have to. I’ve worked in many fine dining establishments and helped folks celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, I expected more from some where with a Michelin star. I never write reviews so you know this is an exceptional occasion.

I got the tasting menu and the highlight was the shrimp in the raw appetizer. I normally don’t like raw shrimp but this was delicious! The bread with garlic cream was good as well. I also enjoyed the fried leaf/herb. Other than that the seafood soup was different, the seafood within it tasted very naturally sweet. Overall the meal did not wow me to the point of coming back again. The bread was really dry and the dessert was so so. The fish taco just tasted like raw fish on lettuce with a drizzle of olive oil and salt shavings. It was okay overall, just not amaaazing.

It's interesting to read the poor reviews here as for us we had an exceptional experience, superb food to our tastes and great service. We discovered the restaurant on night three and we wish it had been night one, it was so much better than the same old, same old, average fare in the area. We had three courses including a sensational Tiramisu. We asked for a Rose wine recommendation and the suggested bottle was great for us. The room ambience was very nice, but it's a fairly small space and it fills up quickly mid-evening. That said we walked in without a reservation at around 7.30pm on a Monday and it was quiet at that time.

Un verdadero hallazgo: los mejores ñoquis que comimos en Venecia. Una pequeña tienda de vinos y restaurante. No estoy seguro de cómo es para la cena, pero el almuerzo era simplemente perfecto: la comida fuera de este mundo y el servicio excelente. Lo único que sí lo fue fue el postre, pero eso no es inusual en Italia. Las recomendaciones del vino eran excepcionales.

Locale accogliente, ampio, luminoso con il personale attento e molto gentile. Il locale e’ curato nei particolari e ben arredato. Menù originale con varie opzioni sia alla carta che menu degustazione. Carta dei vini molto buona. I piatti sono squisiti e sapientemente presentati. Una tappa di venezia da tenere sempre presente.
