The restaurant is located on one of the main streets in the lower part of the Sassi di Matera. Inside, the architecture is unique, the restaurant is tastefully furnished, and the staff are very courteous and friendly, all in a truly authentic atmosphere. The menu, in my opinion, can be overwhelming: although all the dishes obviously draw on traditional elements, the pairings really pique your curiosity and appetite, so you'll want to try everything! The wine list is simple and quite refined, with the option of drinking local wines from both well-known and lesser-known producers at very reasonable markups. The owner is a true host, although he told us he stumbled upon this adventure somewhat by chance. He speaks several languages, is knowledgeable, attentive, and never intrusive. The other staff in the dining room were also excellent, and of course the chef and his team. We spent a wonderful family evening at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend it, especially because the restaurant manages to stand out from all the others around it, and there are many!

What can I say... The location is breathtaking, the staff is truly from another era... The food is breathtaking... One of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at...

Well worth the effort of getting here. A relatively new owner (three years, from Venice ;-) who has created an authentic experience both in terms of local food and well appointed “cave interiors”. Good and fair value.

Spectacular, the owners' service was incredible, and the food was delicious. The place was beautiful, in the cave-like style typical of those found in Matera. We loved it. I hope to return someday.
