Following in the footsteps of elephants, albeit "against the grain," we've reached a wonderful home on our bike tour from Vienna to, hopefully, Lisbon. What the brave pachyderm Soliman/Solomon had to accomplish almost entirely on foot almost 500 years ago is made easier for us in the 21st century 😀. The magnificent hotel, where kings and emperors have stayed, welcomed us with great support and true generosity. We can't thank them enough!

The charm certainly lies in the rustic decor.
The wellness area is relatively new and beautifully designed, but difficult to access.
The fitness room offers rather limited options.
All in all, OK.

A charming antique hotel. We didn't have a room in the building, but in the park, which was great! The garden is very beautiful, and you can use the pool, fitness equipment, and sauna.
The room is appropriately decorated. The beds are clean, with a good mattress and more than one pillow. The bathroom is antique, with a baroque mirror and faucets. Very charming. There's a balcony to sit on. I slept well. The minibar is quite expensive.
The center is a 10-minute walk away.
Breakfast is nicely presented. There wasn't a huge selection of hot dishes, but it was enough for me. Lots of sweets, cold cuts, fresh fruit, rolls, and bread. I just wondered where the cooling racks were because the food was on the table... The cappuccino was good.
There's parking outside, yes, but it's private property. There's no need to worry. The staff was friendly and even offered to help us with our luggage. Of course, the price of €300 for one night is quite steep. But for that, you get a clean room and good food. And I think that's important.

A beautiful, traditional hotel where the Habsburgs once stayed.
Large hotel park with a pool and tennis courts across the street. A very good "regular" restaurant and a small Michelin-starred restaurant.
Modern wellness area with a sauna and steam room.
The name comes from an elephant who stopped in Brixen in the 16th century as a gift to the Habsburg court. A mural on the hotel's outer wall commemorates this event.

In “The Elefant Restaurant” (not apostle restaurant), generally good dishes were served, but with surprising technical errors and a lack of balance, considering that a star-rated kitchen is served in the same establishment. The place setting was served with almost frozen butter that had crumbled apart (no spreadability). The (frozen) hazelnut soufflé was a delicious dessert, but it has nothing to do with a soufflé in terms of appearance or consistency; it could rather be described as a parfait (also taking into account that a frozen soufflé is not the same as a classic soufflé). The veal carpaccio had a very dominant acetic acidity and could have been more balanced. In the case of the veal cheek, a drop of oil was draped on the edge of the plate, but additional drops would have done the dish a lot of good as it was very “flat”. In addition, a little fleur de sel or salt crystals would have rounded off the dish better. Unfortunately not enough for the price and expectations.

The most beautiful place in all of Brixen!!!
We ate in the restaurant yesterday and were pampered with every little detail, in a way that is rarely experienced these days. The food and drinks were excellent, I can only heartily recommend a visit to ELEFANT! A big thank you to the owners, who leave no stone unturned to make sure you feel comfortable and enjoy yourself! THANK YOU, and we'll definitely be back!!!
