El Rey Ristorante Messicano In Carrara

So many memories at this restaurant, where I ate Mexican food for the first time many years ago. This time, I didn't find the flavors of the past... especially that typical spiciness. I'll definitely be back and ask for a little more chili pepper; they probably had to adapt to less discerning palates. The sopa was excellent, and the meat was incredibly tender and delicious.

I've been going to this place since the '90s, when it was still just La Plaza Pub and the legendary Guido had already brought a piece of Mexico to Carrara. With El Rey restaurant, he has once again managed to transport his customers to Mexico with every bite. I've been to Mexico twice and can confirm that Guido and Marta's cuisine is authentic, traditional Mexican cuisine dating back to pre-Columbian times, not the Americanized Tex-Mex we're used to finding here. The menu features various vegetarian options, and by calling ahead, you can get an excellent vegan menu. Guido, the owner, is down-to-earth and very friendly; you always feel at home here... Plus, his knowledge of Mexico is immeasurable. I recommend having a margarita made for him because it's truly delicious.

Excellent food, authentic Mexican flavors. Impeccable service with very kind and helpful staff. Welcoming atmosphere and a pleasant ambiance, with appropriate music.

Probably the best Mexican restaurant outside of Mexico. The food was divine, the tacos were fabulous, the cuisine was genuine and authentic, and the owners knew exactly what they were doing and offering. Fabulous.
