In Milan's Piazza Argentina, a new foodie hotspot has opened, called Panfe'. The bread bags, along with the shop's name and a drawing of an ear of wheat, say "BREAD, LOVE, AND COFFEE," and that says it all. On their first day, they had several different types of bread. I chose whole wheat, because if that's good, all the others are excellent, as it must be made with high-quality flours and naturally leavened. In fact, I tasted a mix of black bread flours that recalled the ancient grains of Sicily. Of course, in addition to bread, they also offer pizzas, focaccias, many sweet treats, and delicious coffee that's a welcome change from the hectic life outside (but they also make cappuccinos, hot chocolates, and so on). If you decide to have breakfast here, you'll be spoiled for choice, all served with love by the (young) people behind the counter, and yes, you'll leave ready to immerse yourself in all the problems the day might bring. Good luck, guys! Put down roots in our little square and don't try to go anywhere else.
