I've been frequenting this little place since it opened, just before Covid. Superlative food, very digestible dishes, speed and kindness in service.
It makes you love Mexican cuisine!
But..... they removed the very normal tables and chairs that were there before, and put in very high tables with tall, narrow wooden stools (without backrests and with a slippery micro cushion that constantly moves) .
Why? Now it has become uncomfortable to eat, difficult to balance on the perch for all elderly or less athletic people, and literally impossible for those with children under 6 years old.
People in wheelchairs have no opportunity to sit together with others, and this is very uninclusive.
Put the normal tables back please!!!

Amazing authentic Mexican food. The pico de gallo was the best I’ve ever had (and I used to live in Mexico). HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend

The most authentic Mexican in Rome.
We often come to eat here because the dishes offered are very good and delicious, with really interesting flavours. The environment is also fun and pleasant, they always welcome you with a smile.
On weekends it's best to book because there are always a lot of people!
Exceptional margarita and reasonable prices.

The Best Taqueria in Europe: El Jalapeño in Rome
I have been a customer of “El Jalapeño” since its opening in 2019. Although I live in Paris and am French-Mexican, I always make a stop at this taqueria every time I visit Rome.
The taqueria has a cozy and colorful atmosphere, located outdoors in an Italian market on the outskirts of Rome. The staff is very friendly and attentive. On the days when Lina, the owner, is present, the attention is 100%. Lina is the kindest and most welcoming person you can meet.
The quality of the tacos is exceptional. I always order the same tacos de pastor, steak, suadero, carnitas and barbacoa. They are delicious and very fresh. It is the real flavor of Mexico and the ingredients are the originals, no approximations. I have tried many taquerias in Europe, but none compare to “El Jalapeño”. In Paris, I have never found a taqueria that comes even close to half of it. The waters of Jamaica and Horchata are delicious and refreshing. I also see that they sell Mexican beers and even canned pulque, although I have never tried them.
In addition to being a taqueria, “El Jalapeño” has a little store with all the necessary products to cook Mexican food. From fresh tortillas and salsas to chips, everything you can imagine from a little corner store in Mexico City is there.
Due to its popularity, it can fill up quickly, especially on weekends. It is advisable to arrive early to ensure a good spot.
I highly recommend “El Jalapeño” to anyone looking for an authentic Mexican experience in Rome. It is, without a doubt, the best taqueria I have known in Europe. Definitely worth a visit!
Lina, please, it is urgent that you open a branch in Paris.

There's no point in beating around the bush... there isn't a Mexican in Rome that offers the same level of goodness of the food, kindness of the staff and value for money! Never change!

I tacos provati erano i seguenti:
- nopales (non l'ho finito perché i pezzi di nopales sottaceto non sapevano di niente se non del liquido di conservazione e il pomodoro e la cipolla tritati non aiutavano);
- al pastor (l'ananas fresca era buona ma non si amalgamava bene alla carne);
- bistec (il migliore in assoluto);
- chorizo con papas (sapeva solo di panna acida);
