This is a place where you eat like once upon a time. Right at the port, you have the opportunity to taste typical seafood dishes, at Doppia Vela da Gianluca you will find a welcoming staff, excellent food prepared with fresh fish, with a simple and hand-written menu. Yes, the menu is hand-written, because it is made on purpose every day, with what the sea lets the fishermen catch. We are in Ortona, in a small jewel of the Costa dei Trabocchi, and Doppia Vela maintains the tradition and promise of Abruzzo strong and gentle: simple dishes, prepared with care, and an exquisite welcome that makes you feel at home. I have chosen it for a long time, as a place of the heart, where to refresh the palate and the senses. An example of local induced excellence.

Great quality food and fair prices

Restaurant practically on the beach, with a beautiful view of the lido and the Ortona boat port. Pleasant and kind welcome, very friendly owner and often in the room chatting with customers (the place was practically full even on an ordinary Tuesday evening!). Some doubts about the cuisine: the complete appetizer, with 5 different tastings, looked good but satisfied me only in the quantities (even too abundant considering the price). Very banal cold dishes, more intriguing hot dishes but never completely successful in my opinion (the best was the cod cheese and egg pallotta). Desserts and house Pecorino so-so, these too neither good nor bad: the judgment is affected by not having tasted first and/or second courses (fresh fish) but unfortunately the appetizer filled the stomach! A lot of attention to the territory, so Doppia Vela deserves to be tried even if it didn't excite me: maybe... skip the appetizer!

TOP seafood restaurant! Very fresh and delicious fish, I personally enjoyed the gnocchi and the fried food, you can taste the quality. The staff is super welcoming and the owner makes you feel really at home. An experience to repeat!!!!

A true seafood trattoria overlooking the port of Ortona. It offers simple and abundant dishes, traditional, of excellent quality with fresh and well-cooked fish. The choice of local wines is also excellent. Gianluca is an exquisite person, he gave us lots of advice to best discover the area, recommending other restaurants for the evening, which is not a given! A true lover of his own land!

Locale semplice sul mare, personale cortese, menù vario quanto basta, ho mangiato una chitarrina alle vongole veramente ottima, ben amalgamata, vongole saporite e neanche un granello di sabbia, una frittura leggera e croccante ricca di peschi freschi, un’ombrina arrosto strepitosa tra le migliori mangiate in vita mia. Concludo con un sorbetto. Che dire pranzo favoloso. Consigliatissimo

Servicio muy amable y eficiente. La comida era excelente. Probamos el vino rosal y fue inusual y bueno. Muy recomendable.
