A beautiful and impressive location, a classic Tuscan countryside lunch with a breathtaking view. The food, however, was a bit less so. Two of my friends (who ate the same dish, so it's no coincidence that there were three of us) and I both had food poisoning, so the food probably needs rethinking.

The prices are above average for restaurants in the Val d'Orcia, with no significant difference in quality. I think €14 for the chicken liver pâté or €12 for the crostini are a bit steep. These are classic local dishes, and these were no different in flavor or selection from those you'd find elsewhere, but at a lower price. The location is certainly well-maintained and the food is high-quality, but that doesn't justify the €3 cover charge or the €18 for the pici all'aglione or al ragù.

I ate here with my family, decent food, very friendly staff, only flaw: prices are too high.

As for the price, it's difficult to give an opinion; it always depends on the quality of the product and the professionalism of the kitchen, which I'd say is excellent. The dining room staff is okay.

The service was terrible. Many waiters were inattentive to us. The food wasn't bad, but the price was too high for its quality. We asked for everything to be brought to us piecemeal, and it came all at once. I wouldn't go back, even though the atmosphere was unbeatable.

Dopolavoro La Foce is hard to pin down. It's a restaurant that tries to appear refined, but some elements clash. Let's start with the prices: high, though not excessive: we're talking a €3 cover charge, first courses for €18, burgers for €20, and second courses for €30. Starting from this base, you expect to eat well and have excellent service.
However, something was missing.
With a €3 cover charge, I expect to eat on a tablecloth, not a small faux leather placemat.
The first courses are served in small, very elaborate pans, reminiscent of old-fashioned osterias. But this is not an osteria... That dish cost me €18 and contained (maybe) 60 grams of pasta. A side note: the Pici al ragù and a small plate of Tagliolini with tomato and basil sauce are the same price...
The service is also difficult to define: typical of an osteria (that's a compliment, mind you), with a young and easy-going team, ready to laugh and joke, and the two owners who seem to be the owners chatting among the tables. Everything is really nice and friendly (and I'm being honest), but, again, it's the typical service I expect in an osteria, with a €20 menu per person. When I spend €40-€50 per person, I expect a different kind of service and a different quality of food.
The place looks good, even though it consists of a single large room and a large garden with the tables very close together. Consequently, you can hear a lot of conversation. The bathrooms, however, are incredibly clean and smell great.
Not a nice thing: the bill arrived with the coffee, without even asking if we were okay or if we wanted anything else (bitter? Dessert?...).
Out of respect for the workers and considering that we ate decently, I can't give anything less than 4 stars, but I don't think I'll ever eat at Dopolavoro La Foce again.
