An unforgettable experience in Salerno
Dining at Donato il Macellaio was, without a doubt, one of the best gastronomic experiences of my life. The meat I tried was simply fantastic—flavorful, succulent, and prepared with a mastery that's hard to find. The pasta, traditional to Naples, captured the essence of Italian cuisine, made with authenticity and passion.
What made it all even more special was Donato himself, the owner, who personally served us. His hospitality, care, and friendliness transformed the dinner into something much more than a meal: it was an encounter with the true soul of Neapolitan cuisine.
I'm sure I'll never forget that evening, and when I return to Salerno, I know exactly where I'll dine: at Donato.

I went to Donato il Macellaio last night with my dad and two friends, and we enjoyed the food. The service and atmosphere were wonderful. I'm writing this review, however, to warn anyone reading this not to park in the alley next to the restaurant. As soon as we left, we got back to the car and noticed that it had been broken into and everything inside had been stolen. A perfect evening, but a very bittersweet ending.

Discovered by chance on social media, I have to say it was a pleasant experience. The dining room was meticulously maintained, rivaling that of Michelin-starred restaurants. The staff were very friendly, and the owner was attentive to the dining room management and always available. The food was excellent and beautifully cooked. We ordered excellent patanegra, poached egg, ravioli, entrecote, tagliata, ribs, and a burger. The prices are fair for the quality of the ingredients and the overall service. It will definitely be our go-to place for meat in Salerno. I'm not giving it five stars because, in my opinion, in Salerno, you should use Cilento EVO oil, not Apulian EVO oil, which, incidentally, vaguely resembled Pisciottano EVO oil.
Excellent grill and restaurant, not far from the Arechi Stadium. Excellent raw materials and good service. Worth a visit.

Locale carino ed accogliente.
Ho mangiato tutto sommato bene. Una buona tartare ed un taglio consigliato da loro. Ad occhio, presentata come 1,270kg, diciamo che ne mancavano circa 200gr. Non considerando la parte di scarto elevata di grasso, ma è un’altra storia. Non ci accontentiamo e chiediamo un’aggiunta, un taglio qualunque possibilmente in crescendo e ci propone del Kobe al calibro di 100gr; ne arrivano 70 scarsi. Servizio dei vini coravin molto gradito, ma 2 vini della carta non presenti, tra cui Tignanello che mi era stato proposto a 45€ e che avevo accettato. Infatti, non è una recensione che contesta i soldi, ma la coerenza.
Conto per 2 di oltre 200 euro, ma sarebbe stato corretto 140/150.
Necessaria una bilancia da portare al tavolo. PS.le grammature ad occhio sono frutto di 32 anni di lavoro nei ristoranti.
Location moderna che affaccia sulla strada principale.
I prezzi della carne sono ovviamente alti, ma noi siamo andati per assaggiare il menù degustazione che comprendeva tante portate al costo di 40€ a persona.
La carne è eccezionale, il personale è alla mano e cortese.
A discovery, polite staff and truly excellent food with a good price, you absolutely have to try the freshly cooked meat.

High quality meats, expertly prepared. Excellent side dishes, that perfectly accompanied the main course. Fair price, quality is not cheap.
