Dainotti's Apericapo In Palermo

A must-try experience if you come to Palermo. A local recommended it, and it's definitely worth it.

At the Mercato del Capo in Palermo, there's this wonderful street food restaurant where you can find many local delicacies, such as a spleen sandwich, arancini, cardoons, fried artichokes and broccoli, panelle, sardines "alla beccafico," and traditional baked pasta with pasta rings and a sensational ragù. Not to mention the fish and grilled meat main courses, both excellent! I spent a weekend in Palermo and had lunch both days at Dainotti's inside the market, among the stalls and the colors of fruit and vegetables. The people who work there are incredibly courteous, almost as if they were inviting you into their home to eat their traditional dishes, the simplicity and genuine hospitality. Bread with spleen, arancini, and especially delicious caponata! Located in the Capo market, it's a great place to stop for a bite! Highly recommended!

Personally I don't like street food due to the lack of basic hygiene standards but if you really want to embark on this adventure, the typical cuisine is not bad.

An authentic yet chaotic place. One queue to pay and get a ticket, another for various food items (arancini, fritte, pasta, etc.), and yet another for the typical Palermo sandwich. You have to try it (with cheese).

A unique experience amidst the narrow streets of Palermo. Delicious food for socializing.

The food is excellent, and it gets very crowded during peak hours, but they clear the line at breakneck speed. They're very kind and will find you a seat even if it's packed.
