The Coxinendi restaurant, whose name recalls the Sardinian term for "cooking", is located in the charming village of Sanluri. Inserted in the Michelin Guide, the restaurant offers cuisine that combines Sardinian tradition and contemporary techniques, offering a tasting itinerary at a cost of €60 (drinks not included).
The experience, which lasted approximately two and a half hours, was marked by well-calibrated timing, guaranteeing a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. The amuse-bouche started the meal: a battered and fried mushroom accompanied by a simple but delicious red pesto. The starters ranged from a tasty beef tartare to a roasted octopus cooked to perfection, up to a basket of shortcrust pastry with chickpea pâté and an elegant garlic air, demonstrating a good search for balance in flavours.
The first course was an intense duck broth, served with spaghetti, dried tomatoes and chard, which impressed with its depth and harmony. Next, the pork shank, tender and tasty, highlighted the rustic roots of Sardinian cuisine, while winking at more international influences. Finally, the desserts closed the menu in a satisfying way: a revisited pardula, homage to a traditional Sardinian dessert, and "Monteprama", a fruit puree enriched with chocolate, delicate and original.
The dishes stood out for their quality and technique, with a clear homage to local tradition and a personal touch that reflects the chef's experience gained abroad. However, some dishes were excessively tasty, an aspect which slightly compromised the overall balance.
The restaurant environment is welcoming, but the room, with an essential mise en place, does not reach the same level of refinement as the kitchen. The service was discreet and competent, although not particularly attentive to detail.
Coxinendi represents an interesting choice for those who want to explore Sardinian cuisine reinterpreted in a modern key. Despite some room for improvement, the excellent quality-price ratio and the attention paid to the culinary offerings make it a recommended stop for anyone in the area.
