At the same time, you develop a kind of sixth sense, where you walk past a restaurant, and you already know whether it's going to be good or not. Holiday in Montecatini. Walk hand in hand with my wife... bell in my head that says: "stop here!". Let's go in; and we eat really well. So, we'll be back the next day. And the next day. And then again. The first courses with fish are very good; and at the end, underneath, there is always a sauce with cherry tomatoes and good oil, which makes you want to make slippers. If you think parmigiana is exceptional, you are not wrong; but if you try the Norma you will realize that you can do even (much) better... And the pizza... high edges, soft and crunchy at the same time. Fragrant dough, perfectly leavened; cooked well and never burned... a poem! Okay... and then? Then there would be fruit and sweets. We give the desserts 5 well-deserved stars. But for the fruit it would take 7... The next time I go there I'll take a photo of you, so you can understand quickly; but for now, trust me... Very sweet watermelon... cherries as big as small medlars; then you put them in your mouth and they deliver more than they promised. Okay... let's conclude with the family that runs everything and offers this wonderful thing. Sergio: a gentleman who always smiles, and has "I'm good" written on his face. Luca, his son: twenty years younger; but he has the same, identical facial expression. The cook (who is Sergio's older brother): as good as he is, he should put on some airs. Instead he comes there, sits at a table with a beer in hand, and chats calmly. Then there is Maria. Who is Sergio's wife. She gives the idea of ​​being the one who keeps them all together, and of being able to do it with a smile. In short: all the good things they do are the offspring of all the good things they are. Go and give it a try: and enjoy your meal! We are back: everything as before; actually, thinking about it: better than before... Try the fried pecorino: on a bed of speck, and with a crazy sauce (which you later discover is made of ricotta). An ineffable pleasure. The Norma is even better than last year's... I think the Montecatini Tourist Board should give it an award: because when you think about where to go on holiday, this restaurant can be the tip of the balance that pushes you to come back here!

We are Americans on vacation in Italy. Not our first time and have had many Italian meals. The food was OK. The grandmas cake was not fresh and rubbery. The crème Catalan was to die for! Tomato Caprese OK. Pasta ok. restaurant clean.
