We had the most wonderful experience at Contro Corrente, near Fiumicino Airport! From the moment we arrived, the warm atmosphere and live jazz music set the perfect mood. We started with a delicious tartare and an incredible cheese selection, paired perfectly with refreshing Aperol Spritz — a true Italian aperitivo done right. For the main courses, the amatriciana pasta was rich and full of flavor, while the cotoletta with chips for the kids was cooked to perfection and devoured in minutes. Everything — from the presentation to the taste — was outstanding. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made us feel truly welcome. A hidden gem that combines fantastic food, great drinks, and unforgettable ambiance. Highly recommended whether you’re looking for a romantic evening, a family dinner, or simply a taste of authentic Italian hospitality before/after your travels.

Wow. So we started off with the duck prosciutto. We had ribs, lamb chops, the traditional Roman pasta, tartar. Everything was excellent. We ended up ordering some of the dishes a second time. Honestly, we've been to a lot of one to three Michelin star restaurants and this food hit the spot. The stars are based on experience and the journey but this place hit the nail on every dish we tried. You won't find chicken nuggets and burgers here. Less tourists, reasonable prices. Excellent end to a summer in Italy.

A fantastic experience. The atmosphere is pleasant, clean, comfortable, and, all in all, basic. We ate inside, and it was comfortable, especially considering the air conditioning. As soon as you're seated, you're greeted with small crostini with stracciatella cheese and confit cherry tomatoes. Special mention goes to the waiters, who are kind, knowledgeable, unobtrusive, and attentive. The menu is varied and offers both sophisticated and delicious dishes (for example, tagliatelle with citrus-infused duck ragù) and traditional dishes, such as cacio e pepe pasta: the dishes are delicious, the meat is succulent and flavorful, the plating is refined, and the portions are generous. We personally ordered (and they're pictured) fried tomino cheese with honey, balsamic vinegar, and diced pears; a large raw fish platter, including tartare, cured meats, and other raw fish paired with various sauces; tagliatelle with citrus-infused duck ragù; beef fillet with blackberry reduction and black truffle shavings (delicious); and a deconstructed tiramisu, all accompanied by a delicious red wine, the "Schiava" from Trentino Alto Adige. The wine cellar is well-stocked, allowing you to pair drinks perfectly with each dish. The price is very fair, absolutely in line with the excellent quality of the dishes. I absolutely recommend it. 5 stars.

A place to definitely return to, recommended for lovers of meat and good food. ♥️

We arrived at FCO on a very delayed flight and had to quickly find a place to dine. We found Contro Corrente online, easily reached it in our rental car, and went in. The welcome was perfect, friendly and professional, despite the hour (after 10 PM). The restaurant is tastefully decorated, small but very well-maintained. The extremely kind owner explained the menu to us, and we ordered to begin a series of appetizers. It was a perfect choice. It consisted of eight portions of various appetizers, all exquisite and prepared with extreme care, each one better than the last, served in an elegant yet informal manner. Next up was an extraordinary cacio e pepe, creamy and peppery just right. Dessert was another exciting discovery: a lime and mint parfait, incredibly fresh and light, perfect for ending the meal. The shot of mintarancia liqueur, kindly offered on the house, was the icing on the cake. What more can I say? A delightful end to the evening, a welcome to Rome after a long journey. Technical note: the restrooms were also clean and in perfect order, which is not a given in restaurants, especially at the end of the day. Worth keeping in mind and recommended.

Had an amazing dinner. Friendly waiters spoke English with us. Loved the atmosphere. Very delicious pasta, had a few of the Hugo Spritz to drink, enjoyed the hazelnut Brie too. Oh and there was live music! Saxophone player.

bel locale, moderno, elegante con tocchi vintage. titolari simpatici e molto preparati. ottima scelta del menù ed eccellenti materie prime e presentazione dei piatti. antipasti variegati e di ottima fattura, carne eccellente. i prezzi sono adeguati al locale ed ai prodotti usati. consigliato sia per cene intime di coppia che con amici.

Sono stato da Contro Corrente per una cena e devo dire che l’esperienza è stata davvero piacevole. Il locale è moderno, curato nei dettagli e con un’atmosfera rilassante. Ho mangiato piatti della tradizione romana ben cucinati. Il servizio è stato cordiale e attento. Prezzi in linea con la qualità offerta.
