This is a true trattoria. At Coco Lezzone, you'll find the atmosphere of a place from days gone by. What matters here is the welcome and the quality of the food. I recommend the ragù in bianco, delicious. The Fiorentina steak is excellent. The boiled meat with salsa verde is a must-try; it melts in your mouth. A place of substance.

The Latins used to say "nonen omen," meaning: destiny is written in the name; a statement that is absolutely true for the lady who runs this trattoria, Gloria. In ancient Rome, this name signified "the notable prestige achieved by a person for their exploits or virtues"!
And here, in the case of Signora Gloria, there are plenty of culinary virtues (and more), which I have had the opportunity to experience firsthand: from the care taken over the establishment, which has remained intact over time, to its structure and authentic atmosphere of traditional Tuscan trattorias; to its strategic location, straddling Via Tornabuoni and Via della Vigna Nuova; and finally to the warm professionalism of the service staff.
But where "Gloria" manifests itself in all its splendor is in the core business of every restaurant, namely: the quality of the dishes offered.
In detail: I ate a uniquely delicious lampredotto soup that, in contrast to the "robustness" of the abomasum used to make the dish, was nothing short of delicate. Then I enjoyed a flavorful and tender pork loin. I finished with a Florentine steak that was a true SPLENDOR, in its cooking, tenderness (probably due to the perfect aging), quality of the ingredients, and size.
I truly cannot praise Signora Gloria and her staff enough for their work and for the attention and care they give to their customers.
As an expert contributor, I can only recommend all community members to visit this wonderful place if you go to Florence.

This is the real deal. My friend and I enjoyed every single aspect of this restaurant, particularly the rabbit and grilled pork. The service was extremely friendly and we enjoyed meeting the owner and very talented chef. Tiramisu is not to be missed!!! Real Tuscan home cooking with fantastic flavors and lively atmosphere.

An old-world atmosphere and high-quality ingredients: the historic concept of large shared tables, where you sit next to strangers, has an authentic charm and reflects a convivial and popular Florence. It's an interesting approach, which can make dinner a pleasant social occasion for those seeking tradition and culinary stories.
That said, our experience suffered at crucial points. The Florentine steak arrived cold, and even after asking to reheat it, it remained lukewarm: a detail that greatly impacts the enjoyment of the house's signature dish. The service was adequate but unwelcoming—not even a smile—and the place appears neglected and in need of some renovation and upkeep. Despite all this, the price is quite high.
In short: good for tourists attracted by the atmosphere and the idea of a shared table, less suitable for Italian customers who are passionate about food and dining culture and seek attention to detail, temperature of the dishes, and warm, personal service. With a few tweaks to cooking times, hospitality, and space, CocoLezzone could offer an experience worthy of its history.
