An old-world atmosphere and high-quality ingredients: the historic concept of large shared tables, where you sit next to strangers, has an authentic charm and reflects a convivial and popular Florence. It's an interesting approach, which can make dinner a pleasant social occasion for those seeking tradition and culinary stories.
That said, our experience suffered at crucial points. The Florentine steak arrived cold, and even after asking to reheat it, it remained lukewarm: a detail that greatly impacts the enjoyment of the house's signature dish. The service was adequate but unwelcoming—not even a smile—and the place appears neglected and in need of some renovation and upkeep. Despite all this, the price is quite high.
In short: good for tourists attracted by the atmosphere and the idea of a shared table, less suitable for Italian customers who are passionate about food and dining culture and seek attention to detail, temperature of the dishes, and warm, personal service. With a few tweaks to cooking times, hospitality, and space, CocoLezzone could offer an experience worthy of its history.

Not your typical restaurant. Over the Ponte Vecchio bridge in Oltrano on a quite little street corner, you will find one of the best restaurants in Florence. The food is authentic Florentine and I suspect mostly locals eat here. Its more like going to your familys house for dinner, not fancy but you know everything was prepared with passion and love.
Our waiter Tony was excellent. He made his suggestions and we ordered everything he said. The Tripe Florentine was nothing like we were use to. No red sauce, no potatoes or peas. It was in a simple broth of onions and carrots and the best we have ever tasted. The Ribolita was also outstanding. We also had the pork chop which was tender and amazing. Tony was so kind and he even let me try speaking to him in Italian. We enjoyed the house wine. The meal was so good and Tony was so welcoming, we went back on our last night in Florence.
The menu is simple and the food was delicious.
If you can, stop by and see Tony and oh, take his suggestions on what to eat.
We will definately go back when we return to Florence

Tony was an expert server. The food was remarkable, particularly the famous steak. It’s a great menu for family style dining and sharing the meal. The wine selection and suggested pairings were marvelous. I loved getting to enter the kitchen and sear my own steak! The experience was great and we will definitely return.

We came for lunch with my family and ordered the famous Fiorentina steak: we couldn't have made a better choice! The meat was so tender it melted in your mouth, like butter!! The best Fiorentina steak in the city... After 50 years, it's still #1 👏🏼
There's a family atmosphere that carries on tradition while paying attention to quality.
I recommend everyone to go and eat a great Fiorentina steak! 🥩

As Apulians looking for an authentic Tuscan restaurant, we wanted to savor the true flavors of the place. A Genoese friend had recommended it to us, and what really convinced us was the presence of so many Florentines at the tables: a sign of quality and tradition!
The owner, Mrs. Gloria, is an impeccable hostess: attentive to detail, meticulous, and a great wine connoisseur. She welcomed and served us with professionalism and warmth, making us feel truly at home.
If we return to Florence, we already know where we'll dine!
