One of the more fancy/expensive restaurants in Ceglie. The food is very good and really interesting. I ate their raviolo (1 giant raviolo, the size of the plate) and it was delicious. Would recommend!

Booked late for a dinner for 2 and had to wait a while for the reservation to be confirmed. However, worth the wait. Cibus is a wonderful Puglain restaurant. The prices are not excessive, the quality of the dishes is very good. We enjoyed everything we had. Seasonal Antipasti, Fave, Coniglio and Lamb shank. Could not fit in a sweet dish at the end. Service became a little slow as they filled up, but not a problem for us as the ambience is nice. Good wine list too. If you are in the area, this is worth a journey to.

It's a historic place. Great tradition and many accolades. Unfortunately, a bit of tiredness is noticeable. The service is fast and impersonal, a well-oiled and organized machine, but lacking the soul and passion of the past. The food, not bad but fairly ordinary, no longer has the punch that once characterized this place. A decidedly negative note was my cured meats appetizer: the salami was fine; the capocollo, while flavorful, was very dry and almost crunchy, and the pancetta lacked character. The cannelloni was acceptable, and the bean soup was well-made. The bocconotto and almond pastries were disappointing.

Nomen omen
As the Romans used to say, a name is a destiny, a destiny made of excellent food, with the utmost attention to the quality and seasonality of the ingredients, to the local area, and to the traditions of Apulian cuisine, especially Ceglie.
No fads or winks at tourists/customers, but rather, right from the menu, with feet on the ground, the concreteness and quality of the Cibus served.
I've been back, and I'll be back.

The location is truly charming, nestled in a charming corner of the historic center, with spaces that exude warmth and authenticity. The interiors are thoughtfully designed, with details that recall local history and culture, creating a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere, perfect for both a romantic dinner or a more convivial occasion.
Staff
The staff was extremely kind, professional, and attentive. From the initial welcome to the bill, the service was excellent, with courteous manners and well-timed delivery.
Cuisine
As for the cuisine, Cibus's offerings focus on traditional Apulian cuisine, interpreted with a touch of care in the presentation. The dishes are delicious, prepared with local ingredients and served with attention to detail. However, while I appreciated the precision of the execution, I didn't find the flavors to elicit that spark of creativity or emotion that would leave a lasting impression: it's solid cuisine, pleasant but not transcendental, remaining within the confines of good execution without going beyond it.
The portions are rather small, which, combined with the somewhat unpretentious bill, leaves a sense of imperfect balance between quantity, quality, and price. The bill, in fact, seems a bit steep for what was actually served: nothing outrageous, but one would expect something more, especially considering the restaurant's reputation.
Conclusion
It's a pleasant restaurant for those seeking a refined atmosphere and professional service, accompanied by good food. Despite some concerns about the quality-price ratio, it remains an interesting place for those seeking a gastronomic experience in the heart of Ceglie Messapica.
The typically Apulian atmosphere is lovely.

Cibus reaffirms its position as one of Puglia's finest traditional restaurants. It features an indoor and outdoor dining area, housed in what remains of a 15th-century convent.
The staff is available to offer seasonal and personalized recommendations. The well-curated wine list perfectly complements the traditional dishes, revisited with balance and respect.
A great added value is the constant presence of the owners, who with discretion and professionalism ensure every detail is in place, making the experience even more special and intimate.
As a Salento native who has traveled the world, I consider this a place to recommend and return to time and again, certain of quality, hospitality, and authenticity. Reservations are highly recommended.
